The wait is finally over for fans of Yash! The makers of the highly anticipated pan-India actioner, ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’, have officially dropped the music video for their first single, ‘Tabaahi’. After treating fans to the audio version back in March, the new visual spectacle offers an extended look at the crackling chemistry between Yash and Kiara Advani. Set against a massive, picturesque visual backdrop, the steamy track showcases the lead pair passionately embracing across multiple stunning locations, perfectly capturing an intense romance where the characters simply cannot stay away from each other.

Ahead of the highly-anticipated launch, the makers brilliantly built hype through a social media exchange on July 7. The official ‘Toxic’ handle posed a question on X (formerly Twitter), tagging Kiara: “What do you call a forbidden love that only exists in stolen time?” The actress swiftly replied with a single word, “Tabaahi,” prompting the official music partner, Zee Music Company, to quote her response with a “Stay Tuned...” before unleashing the video.

The ‘Tabaahi’ music video intriguingly opens with a famous quote from the poet Rumi: "Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I'll meet you there." However, the romantic tale takes a sharp twist towards the end. While the video primarily focuses on Kiara and Yash, it also features glimpses of other leading ladies. Tara Sutaria makes a surprising appearance, portraying the role of a mistress who is seen cosying up to Yash's character at the conclusion of the song. Meanwhile, Nayanthara is also spotted, playing the role of his trusted aide who is seen riding a bike and shooting down goons.

Musically, the track is a powerful blend of guitar-led arrangements and a grand orchestral score. Composer and singer Vishal Mishra poured his soul into the project, stating, “Tabaahi isn't a love song in the conventional sense, it's love as wreckage, as surrender, as fire that doesn't ask permission.”

He praised Yash for bringing a “rare conviction” to the screen, adding that the song is about chasing a raw, unfiltered pulse of love that consumes before it comforts. To ensure a wide reach, the lyrics were crafted by different writers: Raj Shekhar for Hindi, Yogaraj Bhat for Kannada, Ramajogayya Sastry for Telugu, Vignesh Shivan for Tamil, and Rafeeq Ahammed for Malayalam.

Despite the top-notch visuals, the release hasn't been without its share of controversies. While many fans praised the sizzling chemistry, others were quick to criticise the song. Netizens drew comparisons to the dark vibe of Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Kabir Singh’, and many called out the makers for heavily relying on the same Rumi quote famously popularized in Ranbir Kapoor's ‘Rockstar’.

This mixed reception follows the severe backlash the film recently faced over its ‘Ladies and Ladies’ teaser. The promo, which introduced the wider female cast including Huma Qureshi and Rukmini Vasanth, featured a voiceover stating, “Love makes monsters of women. It's a beautiful illusion if one understands the depth of its deception. And yet here we are.” However, it drew heavy criticism for its portrayal of women, specifically highlighting scenes of Yash being lapped by a woman on a beach and holding a revolver inside a woman's mouth, implying a highly adult and violent tone. Previous teasers had already established a dark world and surprised fans with a beardless look for Yash.

Directed by Geetu Mohandas and co-written by Mohandas and Yash, the film is backed by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. Slated for a June 4 release after skipping a clash with ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, the film was pushed back. The makers cited the need to align global distribution and partnerships to ensure the film reaches its fullest worldwide potential.

Shot in Kannada and English, and releasing in dubbed versions including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam, ‘Toxic’ is now set to hit theatres worldwide on August 26, 2026. With ‘Tabaahi’ setting a provocative tone, all eyes are now on how this bold cinematic venture will fare at the box office.
