'Toxic' New Release Date Announced, Yash's Film To Now Hit Theatres In August 2026
Yash and Kiara Advani’s ‘Toxic’ has got a new release date. Here's when it will hit theatres.
'Toxic' is one of the most-awaited Indian movies of 2026, but the Geetu Mohandas directorial continues to get pushed further and further. The film, which is being mounted as a pan-India project, was initially set for release on March 19, setting up a high-octane box-office battle with 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge'. However, the Yash-starrer was postponed, with the makers saying the film would release in June 2026. However, as fate would have it, 'Toxic' didn't release in June either due to yet another postponement.
The makers have finally unveiled the new release date for the film, and 'Toxic' will now hit the big screens on August 26, 2026. The same was confirmed by Yash on social media. Taking to Instagram, he wrote, "Honour Thy Father...#Toxic In Cinemas Worldwide from 26-08-2026."

The new release date will now fall within the festive holiday corridor of Onam, Eid, Varamahalakshmi, and Raksha Bandhan. The Geetu Mohandas-helmed project also stars Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth.
It has been shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. 'Toxic' will now arrive in theatres two months before Yash's next release - 'Ramayana', which stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Yash is playing the role of Raavan.
Coming back to 'Toxic', the premise is set in Goa and follows the rise of a drug cartel across several decades, from the 1940s through the 1970s. Yash is playing a dual role, and he also co-wrote the script with Mohandas.
'Toxic' has already missed three previously announced release dates. It was first set for April 10, 2025 but the slot was pushed back due to delays in shooting and production. The film was then scheduled for March 19, but that date was also dropped after tensions escalated in West Asia following the US-Israel strikes on Iran. The film was then moved to June 4.
In late April 2026, the makers once again postponed the film, this time after presenting it to international buyers and distributors at CinemaCon.
Speaking about all the delays, Yash had accepted that his audience won't like the film's postponement again and again. Speaking to Variety, he had said, "In the West, everything starts when you finish the film. If somebody wants to buy the film or if somebody wants to be part of the film, they want to see the film because huge money is involved."
"Unfortunately, marketing happens even if you don’t want to. The moment we start shooting, people start writing about it. Those are the things which is a challenge, but I think I have faith in my people, so they understand what we are trying to do is something what we all should do,” he added.
'Toxic' was presented at CinemaCon in Las Vegas in April, and the project garnered interest among key international distributors.
