Kiara Advani Slams Reports Suggesting She Asked ‘Toxic’ Makers To Tone Down Bold Scenes With Yash
It was recently reported that Kiara Advani was uncomfortable with romantic scenes she had shot with Yash for ‘Toxic’. Here's what the actress said.
In the fast-paced world of showbiz, rumours often travel faster than a film’s first-look poster. The latest actress to find herself at the centre of the gossip mill is Kiara Advani, who is currently gearing up for one of the most anticipated projects of 2026: ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups’. After days of mounting speculation regarding her role alongside South superstar Yash, Kiara has officially stepped in to set the record straight, and she didn't mince her words.

The rumours, which began circulating on various social media platforms, claimed that Kiara Advani had approached the makers of ‘Toxic’ with a specific request. According to these reports, the Bollywood actress was allegedly uncomfortable with certain bold and intimate scenes after watching the output and had asked director Geetu Mohandas to tone them down.

Taking to her Instagram Stories, Kiara shared a screenshot of one such report and slapped a clear, bold caption over it: “Absolute nonsense!”
The reports further claimed that she had shot a “bold romantic sequence” with Yash after being reassured that they would be within her comfort zone. However, they claimed she changed her mind after watching the scene. They also stated that industry insiders said that Kiara has asked Yash and Geetu to either shorten the scene or tone it down in the final cut.
By addressing the issue directly, Kiara Advani has shut down the narrative that she was interfering with the creative vision of the film. For fans, this suggests that the actress remains fully committed to the script as originally envisioned by Geetu Mohandas.
Directed by the National Award-winning Geetu Mohandas, ‘Toxic’ has been making headlines since its title announcement. The film marks the massive collaboration between the Hindi and Kannada film industries, bringing together the ‘Rocking Star’ Yash and Kiara Advani in a premise that is described as gritty, dark, and uniquely stylish.
While plot details are being kept under tight wraps, the "Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups" tagline suggests a narrative that is far from your typical candy-floss romance. This makes the rumours about "toning down" scenes even more peculiar, as the film is expected to have a raw and edgy aesthetic.
Toxic, a Kannada-English film, is produced by KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations. The film stars Yash in a dual role as Raaya and Ticket. Kiara plays Nadia in the film. Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth make up the rest of the cast.
‘Toxic’ was officially announced in December 2023, and filming took place between August 2024 and October 2025. The film was originally scheduled for release on April 10, 2025, but was postponed to 2026.
It was later scheduled for release on March 19, 2026, but was postponed amid the West Asian conflict, avoiding a clash with ‘Dhurandhar 2’. The film is not releasing on June 4, 2026, either. ‘Toxic’ will also be released in theatres in Hindi and other South Indian languages. A new release date has not yet been announced.
