Tom Cruise's 'Mission Impossible 8' Poised To Be One Of The Most Expensive Films After Budget Goes Past Rs 3,300 Crore: Report
As per several reports, Tom Cruise's 'Mission Impossible 8' has been delayed following a malfunction while filming with a Rs 207.8 crore (USD 25 million) submarine.

'Mission Impossible' is one of the most-loved movie franchises ever, and fans always want to see what Tom Cruise does in the action film franchise. However, it looks like that the fans will have to wait a bit longer to watch the upcoming eighth installment. As per several reports, the movie's production has been delayed following a malfunction while filming with a Rs 207.8 crore (USD 25 million) submarine. The incident took place when the gimbal being used to lower the 120-ft structure, jammed under its weight, requiring repair. As per The Mirror, the film's production has been stalled for a couple of weeks, causing its already enormous budget, to increase even further.
The budget of the film is now nearing the Rs 3,324.88 crore (USD 400 million) mark. "They’re not happy as it puts production behind, which costs a lot of money per day,” a source told The Mirror.
For the unversed, the upcoming eighth installment is a direct sequel to 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' (2023). The movie will mark the return of Tom Cruise as protagonist Ethan Hunt.
Besides Tom Cruise, the film also stars Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff.
Earlier, prior to the Hollywood writers' strike last year, director Christopher McQuarrie stated that they had already shot about 40 per cent of the movie.
Originally scheduled for a summer 2024 release, Paramount Pictures had earlier postponed the movie’s release date to May 2025. Now, with more and more delays, it needs to be seen whether the film is able to release next year.
The upcoming film will be director McQuarrie’s fourth Mission: Impossible film since joining the franchise in 2015.
The 'Mission Impossible' franchise began in 1996 with the first film directed by Brian De Palma.
For the uninitiated, 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One', which was released in 2023, under-performed at the box office, having been released just weeks prior to Greta Gerwig's 'Barbie' and Christopher Nolan's 'Oppenheimer'.
