Emraan Hashmi’s ‘Awarapan 2’ continued its impressive box-office run, with the sequel showing strong traction both in India and overseas after its Independence Day release. While the film experienced the expected slowdown on its first Monday, its overall performance remains encouraging, with the worldwide collection crossing the Rs 130 crore mark within four days. The film's success is particularly noteworthy considering the journey of the original 'Awarapan'. Released in 2007, the first installment did not make a major impact commercially.

However, its emotional narrative, memorable music and Emraan Hashmi's intense performance gradually helped it develop a devoted following, turning the film into a cult favourite over the years.
According to figures shared by industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ has collected Rs 91 crore net in India after four days. The film's India gross stands at around Rs 109.02 crore. The film earned Rs 9.25 crore on its first Monday, a 64.4 per cent drop from the previous day's Rs 26 crore. The sequel has also maintained a healthy presence in international markets. It reportedly added another Rs 2.50 crore gross from overseas markets on its fourth day, taking its overseas total to approximately Rs 21.80 crore.

The film is now within touching distance of the Rs 100 crore net milestone in India. With roughly Rs 91 crore already in the domestic market, it needs only around Rs 9 crore more to enter the coveted club. If the weekday hold remains steady, the film could reach that landmark as early as Tuesday.
The commercial response to ‘Awarapan 2’ has added another significant chapter to Emraan Hashmi's career. Returning as Shivam Pandit nearly two decades after the original, the actor has managed to reconnect with an audience that had kept the first film alive long after its theatrical run.
The sequel’s performance also comes after a competitive Independence Day box-office clash with Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta’s ‘Batwara 1947’. Despite arriving on the same date, ‘Awarapan 2’ has established a sizeable lead over its rival. On Monday, ‘Batwara 1947’ crashed at the box office, earning just Rs 2 crore, taking the four-day nett collection to Rs 28.50 crore.
Awarapan 2's box-office performance also prompted an emotional message from Emraan's wife, Parveen Hashmi. Taking to Instagram, she reflected on the actor's long journey in Bollywood and the highs and lows he experienced throughout his career. Her post also referenced the popular line associated with Emraan from ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’, writing, “Akha Bollywood ek taraf aur Emraan Hashmi ek taraf.”
Directed by Nitin Kakkar and produced by Vishesh Bhatt, ‘Awarapan 2’ brings Emraan back as Shivam Pandit. The film features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in important roles, alongside Puran Gabbi, Anirudh Rawal, Surendar Vicky, Vijayant Kohli and Atul Kumar.
