‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Goes Past Rs 400 Crore, Becomes Highest-Grossing Hollywood Film In India
Tom Holland and Zendaya’s ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has become the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has reached a landmark milestone at the Indian box office, overtaking ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ to become the highest-grossing Hollywood film in India. Moreover, the Tom Holland and Zendaya-starrer has also become the first Hollywood film to breach the Rs 400 crore mark nett in India. The superhero blockbuster has now accumulated Rs 415.45 crore in India, moving past the Rs 378.22 crore total recorded by James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ in 2022.

The record comes during the film's second weekend, with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continuing to attract audiences despite moving beyond its opening phase. After collecting Rs 15 crore on its second Friday, the film registered a significant upswing on Saturday, bringing in another Rs 31 crore. On Sunday, the 11th day of its release, the film raked in Rs 34.70 crore.
The strong Saturday and Sunday performance pushed its overall India tally past the Rs 400 crore mark and allowed it to move to the top of the Hollywood box-office rankings in the country. The achievement is particularly notable given that the film is already in its second weekend.

Rather than witnessing a sharp decline, the superhero title has maintained substantial audience interest, with the weekend growth further strengthening its box-office run.
Crossing the Rs 400 crore mark has given the film another significant achievement in what has already been an exceptional domestic theatrical run. It has also further widened the gap between the new record-holder and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’.
The film's rise to the top comes at a significant time for the Indian theatrical market, where Hollywood releases have increasingly demonstrated their ability to compete with major domestic productions.
Its box-office run is expected to remain strong in the immediate future, with the film having a window to add to its earnings before the arrival of new releases on August 14, including ‘Batwara 1947’ and ‘Awarapan 2’.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ brings Tom Holland back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Holland is joined by Zendaya, who reprises her role as MJ, while Jacob Batalon returns as Ned Leeds. The film also features Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher, Michael Mando as Mac Gargan, Tramell Tillman and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk.
The film is directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, best known for helming Marvel's ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. The story follows Peter Parker as he embraces a new life after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ left the world with no memory of his identity.
Now operating as Spider-Man full-time, Peter is increasingly isolated as people from his past move on without him. His commitment to protecting New York comes at a personal cost, while a mysterious new threat begins to emerge.
