The internet, as always, was quick to jump to conclusions. The comment section was instantly flooded with speculative and curious reactions. Some fans were convinced the move was deliberate, with one user commenting, “Mangalsutra, definitely she knew the camera with capture it that's why she exposed it outside. Whoever is the lucky guy it's good that she got married, and why not she's 41 years old. May she have a happy married life.” Others chimed in with remarks like, “Finally, Kangana got married,” and “She got married to a Maharashtrian.”
Despite the uproar and fans debating her age, there is absolutely no evidence that she has walked down the aisle. While she did mention in a 2023 interview that she wants to get married and start a family “at the right time,” the current traditional avatar is reportedly a look test or costume for her highly anticipated upcoming film, ‘Queen Forever’.
The film serves as the sequel to her 2014 National Award-winning hit ‘Queen’. Currently in production under director Vikas Bahl, who is also co-producing and writing through a partnership with Trigger Happy Studios, the sequel started shooting in early May. A set representing the lead character Rani's home has been constructed at a location in Grant Road, South Mumbai.
Unlike the original film, which took Rani on a journey through Paris and Amsterdam, the sequel keeps the narrative within India. After a significant life event, Rani finds herself in Mumbai, embarking on a journey of self-discovery on home ground. A mangalsutra is entirely consistent with where Rani's storyline may have progressed over the last twelve years. While Kangana returns to the beloved role, original co-stars Rajkummar Rao and Lisa Haydon will not be returning, with Vikas Bahl instead casting a fresh ensemble drawn largely from the theatre circuit.
Beyond ‘Queen Forever’, Kangana has a packed slate. Having recently completed 20 years in Bollywood and fresh off her directorial venture ‘Emergency’, she is gearing up for the political drama ‘Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata’. Slated for a June 12 theatrical release, the Manoj Tapadia-directed film is inspired by true events. It narrates the story of “the night when humanity stood taller than fear, and responsibility became an act of courage,” focusing on the 400 lives saved inside Cama Hospital while terror raged outside.
The film features an extensive ensemble cast including Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, Aditya Mishra, and Zahid Khan. Looking ahead, 2027 will also see Kangana making her international debut in the supernatural horror film ‘Blessed Be the Evil’.
Balancing her cinematic career with her political duties, Kangana continues to serve as the Member of Parliament from her hometown of Mandi, a Lok Sabha seat she won on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket in 2024. For now, fans will just have to wait to see her as a real-life bride, but they can definitely look forward to Rani's return to the big screen.
