Aishwarya Rai was recently spotted at the Mumbai airport with her daughter as the two headed to Cannes.
After days of intense speculation that left fans on edge, the undisputed Queen of Cannes has officially set the record straight. Early Friday morning, Bollywood icon Aishwarya Rai was spotted at the Mumbai airport, jetting off to the French Riviera for the Cannes Film Festival. Accompanied by her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, Aishwarya’s departure instantly sent the internet into a frenzy and put an end to the swirling rumours that she might be skipping the prestigious event this year.

The chatter regarding her potential absence had gained significant momentum recently, particularly after eagle-eyed fans noticed she was missing from this year’s L’Oréal promotional campaigns at the festival. However, true to form, Aishwarya is returning to the French Riviera to fulfill her duties as a long-standing ambassador for the beauty brand. It is widely believed that the star will be making her highly anticipated red carpet appearance on the closing day of the film festival.
For their airport outing, the mother-daughter duo served major style goals by twinning in chic, coordinated black ensembles. Aishwarya opted for a structured black blazer that featured sharp lapels and intricate floral sequin embroidery. The embellished patches scattered across the jacket shimmered under the blinding paparazzi flashes, bringing a starry sparkle to the otherwise all-black look. She paired the statement blazer with straight-fit black office pants, black heeled boots, and carried an additional black cover-up alongside a black bag featuring brown handles.

Walking hand-in-hand with her mother, Aaradhya perfectly complemented the aesthetic. She wore black flared jeans paired with a white and black V-neck top featuring small centre buttons, all layered under a sleek black leather jacket.
Before making her way into the terminal, Aishwarya shared a few candid moments with the paparazzi and fans. She greeted the photographers with warm smiles, kindly paused to snap a picture with a young fan, and even thoughtfully alerted the paparazzi when one of them lost their footwear in the scuffle.

Aishwarya has been a staple at the festival since her debut in 2002, when she walked the red carpet alongside Shah Rukh Khan and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the premiere of ‘Devdas’. The following year, she made her first appearance as a L’Oréal ambassador, remaining a regular attendee ever since 2003.
On the cinematic front, audiences last saw Aishwarya in Mani Ratnam’s 2023 epic historical action drama ‘Ponniyin Selvan: Part 2’. The film, which follows Prince Arulmozhi Varman and his family navigating threats to the Chola Empire, earned her the Best Actress in a Leading Role (Critics) award at the South Indian International Movie Awards (SIIMA) in Dubai. The massive ensemble cast also included Vikram, Ravi Mohan, Karthi, Trisha Krishnan, Jayaram, Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, and Aishwarya Lekshmi.
While she has yet to announce her next major project, her return to the Cannes red carpet is more than enough to keep her fanbase thrilled.
