Ranveer Singh Visits Chamundeshwari Temple Amid ‘Kantara’ Mimicry Row And FWICE Ban
Ranveer Singh, who has been in the headlines after FWICE issued a non-cooperation directive against him, recently visited the Chamundeshwari Temple.
Ranveer Singh, who recently stole the limelight through his performance in ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, is once again making headlines, but this time it's all for the wrong reasons. The Bollywood star is caught in the middle of a huge row after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against him. This directive basically calls for a shadow ban on him in Bollywood. Amidst the raging controversy, the actor visited the Chamundeshwari Temple in Mysuru. His visit was a part of his apology for the Kantara mimicry row, as directed by the Karnataka High Court.

The visit to the temple comes days after Ranveer issued a public apology and clarified his intent regarding the matter. Earlier, Ranveer faced criticism for mimicking Rishab Shetty's act from 'Kantara'. However, once the backlash intensified, Ranveer explained his stance, saying, “My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.”

“I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise,” he added.
For the unversed, the mimicry row happened during the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025, which Rishab also attended. When Ranveer took the stage, he did an exaggerated take on Rishab’s Daiva act from the 'Kantara' films. Once the video went viral, a Bengaluru-based lawyer filed a petition in court, alleging that the sentiments were hurt by the actor. Based on this, an FIR was filed against Ranveer, prompting him to approach the court seeking quashing of the case.

Earlier this year, Ranveer's counsel stated that the actor is apologetic about his remarks. On Monday, the FWICE banned Ranveer for his abrupt exit from Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 3'. Farhan had approached the film body after the actor left the film at the last minute.
“As soon as the complaint reached us, we formally registered it. Subsequently, we issued three notices to Ranveer Singh: one every 10 days, inviting him to engage with us, and three reminders. However, we received absolutely no response. Since we received no response, we collectively decided to convene a press conference to apprise the industry of the decision our Federation has taken. The moment we announced the press conference, we received an email from Mr Singh stating that this matter did not fall within our jurisdiction and that we had no authority to interfere in it. We took note of his stance and decided to proceed accordingly,” FWICE President Ashoke Pandit said.
Earlier, Farhan had claimed that Ranveer's exit had cost him more than Rs 45 crore.
