For the past few days, the personal life of Bollywood actress Mouni Roy has been under a scanner, with intense speculation surrounding her marriage to businessman Suraj Nambiar. Following a flurry of reports claiming that the couple's relationship had hit a rough patch – and even alleging that they had already separated and were living apart – the actress has finally stepped forward to address the chatter. Taking to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday afternoon, Mouni issued a brief but firm statement to shut down the growing online narrative.

The rumour mill officially went into overdrive earlier this week when eagle-eyed fans noticed a major shift in the couple's social media activity. Both Mouni and Suraj appeared to have unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Adding fuel to the fire, reports emerged that Mouni’s close friend, actress Disha Patani – with whom she frequently shares glimpses of vacations, dinner outings, and girls' trips – had also unfollowed Suraj. Shortly after this discussion gained momentum online, Suraj completely deactivated his Instagram account on Tuesday evening.

Despite the concerning unfollowing spree, there remains a glimmer of hope for fans. Mouni has not wiped her profile clean; she has notably kept her cherished 2022 wedding and honeymoon photographs on her grid. Amid the ongoing buzz, Mouni also took time on Wednesday to share a heartfelt birthday tribute to her friend and producer, Roopali Kadyan. Sharing fond photo memories of them together, she wrote, “My sister come ruin or rapture. Happy birthday my erry'thing. Love your sarcasm, Witt, beauty inside out and all that makes you; YOU! I LOVE YOU! No adjectives can ever describe how much i love you and you already know that. You are a witch though.”

The sudden separation buzz has left fans shocked, especially given the couple's previously open expressions of love. Mouni and Suraj first crossed paths in 2018 during a New Year's celebration in Dubai, introduced by mutual friends. They navigated a long-distance relationship for years, with Suraj working in Dubai and Mouni based in Mumbai, frequently traveling to spend time together.

Fiercely private about their dating phase, Mouni never publicly confirmed the relationship until their lavish Goa wedding on January 27, 2022. The celebration beautifully blended both Malayali and Bengali rituals, preceded by haldi and mehendi ceremonies. Sharing their first official photos as husband and wife, Mouni had joyfully penned, “I found him at last.. Hand in hand, blessed by family and friends, We're married! Need your love and blessing. Love, Suraj and Mouni.”

While her personal life is currently making headlines, Mouni has built a formidable career in the entertainment industry. She first garnered attention in the iconic TV show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, before gaining widespread fame as the lead opposite Mohit Raina in ‘Devon Ke Dev... Mahadev’, and headlining two successful seasons of Ektaa Kapoor's hit show ‘Naagin’. Transitioning to the silver screen, Mouni has starred in films including the Akshay Kumar-starrer ‘Gold’ and ‘Made in China’, and made a significant mark playing the antagonist in Ayan Mukerji's blockbuster ‘Brahmastra’, sharing the screen with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, Nagarjuna, and Amitabh Bachchan.

Currently, Mouni is awaiting the release of her upcoming romantic comedy, ‘Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. Directed by David Dhawan – marking his fifth collaboration with Varun Dhawan – the film features a massive ensemble cast including Pooja Hegde, Mrunal Thakur, Maniesh Paul, Rakesh Bedi, Chunky Panday, Rajesh Kumar, and Jimmy Shergill.

Initially slated for a May 22 release, the film shifted back to its original theatrical release date of June 5 after Yash's ‘Toxic: A Fairytale For Grown-Ups’ was postponed again.
