Admitting that there is limited clarity regarding the clash between Ranveer and Excel Entertainment, Manoj Bajpayee stated, “I must tell you one thing, that all the people who are in this industry, they are only reading it on social media and we don't have the detailed information about it. But all we can say as colleagues or as fellow fraternity members that we hope that the matter is sorted out soon.”

The ban, officially issued on Monday, May 25, stems from complaints filed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani. According to Excel Entertainment, Ranveer walked out of the project just days before shooting was slated to begin. The producers sought FWICE's intervention in April, seeking Rs 45 crore in compensation for the substantial pre-production monetary losses incurred based on the actor's initial commitment.

In a press conference, FWICE President Ashoke Pandit explained the rationale behind the strict move. He revealed that the workers' body had formally registered the complaint and issued three notices to Ranveer – one every ten days – along with three reminders. Despite multiple invitations to present his side of the story, Ranveer did not appear before the film body. Ashoke Pandit noted that once the FWICE announced a press conference, they received an email from Ranveer asserting that the film body had no authority to interfere and that the matter did not fall under their jurisdiction. Consequently, the FWICE decided to proceed with the non-cooperation directive.
While Ranveer's team eventually released a statement regarding the matter, the actor himself has maintained his silence. Interestingly, just a day after the directive was announced, he was spotted making a visit to the Chamundeshwari Temple.
The ban has also sparked debate within the industry. Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta took to X (formerly Twitter) to question the logic of the move, writing, “When an A List Hero shoots there are more than 300 workers working on sets. Ban him and you are not stopping him but depriving the workers of their livelihood. What sense does it even make???”
‘Don 3’ was initially announced in August 2023 with a teaser that introduced Ranveer as the new Don, taking over the mantle of the iconic character previously brought to life by Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan.
Meanwhile, Manoj Bajpayee is currently gearing up for the release of ‘Governor’ on June 12, 2026. Directed by Chinmay Mandlekar and backed by Vipul Shah, the film centres around India's 1991 economic crisis. Manoj Bajpayee acknowledged the difficulty of the project, noting that while there is always a risk of "going off," he strives to do justice to his characters.
The film also stars Adah Sharma and Madhoo Shah. Sharing his excitement about working with Madhoo, Manoj Bajpayee recalled his struggling days when he watched her film ‘Roja’ at a Carter Road theatre, describing her as "every young man's muse." Madhoo reciprocated the admiration, stating it was a dream to work with Manoj Bajpayee, whom she called the "best" and most "understated" actor in the nation, adding that watching him perform is like a "tuition for actors like me."
