Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar 2’ Dethrones ‘Baahubali 2’ To Become 2nd Highest-Grossing Indian Film
Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has surpassed the lifetime collections of SS Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’.
History has officially been rewritten at the global box office. After a relentless and highly lucrative seven-week theatrical run, Aditya Dhar’s action sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has accomplished what once seemed to be an impossible feat. On its 46th day in theatres, the Ranveer Singh-led blockbuster has finally surpassed the lifetime worldwide collections of SS Rajamouli’s monumental epic, ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’, officially cementing its legacy as the second highest-grossing Indian film of all time.

The box office numbers are nothing short of spectacular and paint a picture of total audience domination. On Sunday, May 3, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ officially edged past Baahubali 2’s decade-old milestone of Rs 1,788 crore. As of Monday morning, the gross global earnings for the high-octane revenge saga stand at a staggering Rs 1,789 crore. This incredible feat places it right behind the reigning box office champion, ‘Dangal’, which continues to hold the undisputed top spot with a massive lifetime gross of Rs 2,070 crore.

Despite seeing a natural, expected dip in momentum and losing screen counts to newer theatrical releases – such as ‘Bhooth Bangla’ and Hollywood heavyweights like ‘Michael and ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ – ‘Dhurandhar 2’ continues to pull in dedicated audiences. In the domestic market alone, the film has amassed an impressive Rs 1,138 crore net, which translates to a phenomenal Rs 1,362 crore gross. Even as its daily domestic haul settles into the Rs 1 crore to Rs 1.5 crore range due to screen reductions (dropping below 500 screens for the first time since its release), the sheer scale of its initial momentum has been more than enough to propel it straight into the record books.
What makes this financial achievement even more remarkable is the film’s unprecedented success in the international market. Even without securing a release in the Gulf – traditionally one of the biggest and most lucrative overseas territories for Indian cinema – ‘Dhurandhar 2’ has successfully minted over USD 50 million internationally. This speaks volumes about the universal, cross-border appeal of Aditya Dhar’s vision and the undeniable, magnetic star power of Ranveer Singh.
The massive financial success of ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ proves that the ambitious sequel has managed to eclipse its blockbuster predecessor by leaps and bounds. The first ‘Dhurandhar’ film, released in December 2025, was an all-time box office titan in its own right, concluding its theatrical run with over Rs 1,300 crore worldwide. The follow-up has completely blown past those initial figures, propelled by a stellar and dynamic ensemble cast that features Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun alongside Ranveer Singh.
As the film continues its historic theatrical window, it is currently projected to comfortably cross the Rs 1,800 crore mark worldwide before fully wrapping up its run. While it is highly unlikely to surpass the formidable Rs 2,070 crore record set by ‘Dangal’, its prestigious position as the runner-up is secure for the foreseeable future. The only upcoming projects expected to potentially challenge this monumental scale are Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming grand two-part ‘Ramayana’ and SS Rajamouli’s highly awaited return, ‘Varanasi’, which marks his first release since breaking out in the West with ‘RRR’ four years ago.
For now, Ranveer Singh, Aditya Dhar, and the entire team behind the film are standing tall at the absolute pinnacle of Indian cinema, having delivered a massive cinematic event that will undoubtedly be remembered for decades to come.
