Ranveer Singh is currently riding high on the massive success of Aditya Dhar's two-part spy action thriller, ‘Dhurandhar’. Both installments of the high-octane franchise have shattered box office records, cementing Ranveer Singh's status as a powerhouse performer. However, amidst the celebratory buzz, the actor recently found himself at the centre of a controversy regarding his on-set demands. Speculation ran wild that the superstar required not one, but three vanity vans during the film's production.

The rumours ignited when a sharp-eyed Reddit user posted a screengrab of Dhurandhar's end credits. The credits explicitly listed three specific vehicles assigned to Ranveer Singh's character, Hamza: "Hamza van," "Hamza staff van," and "Hamza normal van." This sparked a heated online debate, with netizens accusing the film's production of indulging in excessive spending to cater to actor tantrums.

But before the rumour mill could spin completely out of control, industry veterans stepped in to defend the actor. During a recent get-together at actor Gaurav Gera's residence, filmmaker Farah Khan addressed the swirling speculation. Gaurav Gera, who delivered an unrecognisable and stellar performance as the soda shop owner Md Alam in the film, shared a hilarious behind-the-scenes anecdote. He recalled a long script reading session where Ranveer Singh playfully revived their old 'Chutki' video joke. "He followed me and teased in that voice saying, 'Chutki, washroom jaayegi?' He is super fun, quite a brat. He is wonderful," Gaurav Gera shared.

Chipping in on the vanity van debate, Farah Khan was unabashed in her praise for Ranveer Singh's dedication to the craft. Reacting to the viral claims, she firmly stated that given the calibre of his performance, all his demands should be happily met. "What a talent. 5 van aur dedo usko, Dhurandhar ke baad (give him 5 more vanity vans after Dhurandhar)," Farah Khan declared. When Gaurav Gera noted that he hadn't actually seen that many vans on set, Farah simply smiled and added, "Give it to him if he wants it."

So, did Ranveer Singh really demand a fleet of luxury vanity vans? A source close to the production officially cleared the air, and the reality is far less scandalous. The "vans" credited at the end of the film were not luxury trailers at all. Instead, the term referred to regular Thai commuter vehicles utilized during the film's gruelling Thailand shooting schedule.

"These were Thai vans being referred to in the end credits from Dhurandhar's Bangkok shoot, which had a long shooting schedule," the production source clarified. "One vanity and two cars (Thai vans) were deployed for the actor, staff, luggage, etc., to travel around the locations." The Bangkok leg of the shoot involved heavy logistical challenges, featuring extensive outdoor filming, multiple locations, and frequent movement across the city, making this level of transport absolutely necessary, rather than a diva demand.

Setting the rumours aside, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ remains a cinematic triumph. The origin story delves deep into how Ranveer Singh's character, Jaskirat Singh Rangi, transforms into the dreaded spy Hamza Ali Mazari. The narrative masterfully tracks his rise through the ranks of Lyari's underworld and its political structure, ultimately becoming a kingpin to dismantle a terror network in Pakistan.

Alongside Ranveer Singh, the blockbuster features a massive ensemble cast including Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun in lead roles. Key supporting performances are delivered by Danish Pandor and Udaybir Sandhu, with a special cameo appearance by actress and director Aditya Dhar's wife Yami Gautam.
