Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav was granted interim bail recently in connection with a Rs 9 crore debt and cheque bounce case. During the period when the actor was in jail, several Bollywood stars reportedly stepped forward to help him settle his dues. However, in a recent interview with E Times, Rajpal Yadav declined to disclose the names of those who assisted him or the amounts involved, stating that he did not wish to invite sympathy.

While names such as Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn were reported to have extended financial help, Rajpal Yadav maintained that the industry does not need to publicly prove its support for him.

When asked about the financial assistance he has supposedly received from his colleagues, Rajpal said, “I respect all the help that has come my way, but I do not want sympathy.”

In the same interaction, the Bollywood actor also opened up about his time in jail, revealing that he ate the same food that was served to other inmates. He also defended himself against allegations of fraud, stating that his continued work in the film industry over the past ten years reflects the trust people have in him.

Speaking to E Times, Rajpal Yadav avoided discussing the specifics of the cheque bounce case, noting that the matter is currently sub judice. He admitted to being cautious during media interactions, explaining that even a minor misinterpretation of his words could create legal complications. “I don’t want even a single line to become a problem,” he said.

The actor further shared that he is taking life one day at a time, treating each day as a fresh start. Reflecting on the week he spent in jail, Rajpal Yadav said he complied with all court directives during that period. “I was eating the same food that was made for everyone,” he stated.

He added that he intends to continue following all court orders and simply wants the High Court to hear his side of the story. “If the Court finds that I’m wrong – send me back to jail, I will respect that,” he remarked.

The Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case dates back nearly a decade, when Murali Projects Pvt Ltd financed Rajpal’s directorial debut ‘Ata Pata Laapata’ with Rs 5 crore. Following the film’s underwhelming box office performance and the actor’s inability to repay the amount, the sum reportedly grew to Rs 9 crore over time.

During the interview, Rajpal Yadav also addressed being labelled a “fraud” after the case surfaced, despite continuing to receive steady work in the industry. He pointed out that he has featured in nearly 10 films each year, questioning why filmmakers would collaborate with him if such allegations were true.

Earlier, in a conversation with India TV, Rajpal Yadav had appealed to the film industry for opportunities, saying, “Jinhone madad ki hai wo ek aur madad kar dein, character meri marzi ka and paisa unki marzi ka.”
