Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has responded after yoga guru Baba Ramdev criticised her controversial “generation gutter” remark for Gen Z, turning the exchange into another public war of words. The actress-politician, who has previously sparked debates with her outspoken views on social and political issues, took to Instagram Stories on Wednesday to react to Baba Ramdev's comments. Rather than directly addressing his criticism, Kangana appeared to refer to the 2024 legal controversy involving Ramdev and Patanjali.

For the unversed, Baba Ramdev was recently asked about Kangana's comments concerning sections of India's younger generation, including her description of certain young women as “generation gutter”. According to a report by Aaj Tak, Baba Ramdev questioned the context behind Kangana's upbringing and public career before criticising her choice of words.
Firing back at Baba Ramdev, Kangana shared a snippet of a news article on Instagram Stories and wrote, “Baba ji don't day dream about my jawani or bedroom. One can only assume based on rumours and gossip. Atleast mujhe kabhi Supreme Court se fatkar nahi lagi for false/fraud efficacy claims.”
“So don't give me character lessons. Tumse toh bahut zyada behtar hai mera character, no fraud detected here,” she added.

In responding to Baba Ramdev, Kangana referred to the Supreme Court proceedings involving the yoga guru and Patanjali managing director Acharya Balkrishna. The case dates back to 2024, when the Supreme Court sought explanations from Ramdev and Balkrishna regarding alleged violations of an earlier order concerning Patanjali's advertisements.

The court had previously directed the company to stop advertisements that claimed to cure diseases and objected to messaging that allegedly undermined modern medical systems.
Coming back to Kangana, the controversy stems from remarks she made last month while speaking about certain young protesters and women. She had criticised what she described as the growing influence of Westernised attitudes among some young people and used the phrase “generation gutter” while making her point.
Her comments attracted criticism, with some people arguing that the phrase unfairly generalised an entire generation. Kangana later clarified that she was not making a blanket statement about the Jantar Mantar protest linked to the NEET-UG paper-leak controversy. She maintained that her comments were directed specifically at certain individuals and women, rather than at everyone who participated in the protest.
