Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is currently serving a six-month sentence at Tihar Jail following his surrender on February 5, 2026. The surrender pertains to a long-standing Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. Despite his legal team’s efforts, the Delhi High Court recently rejected his initial bail plea, leading to a wave of speculation regarding his status and potential financial help from Bollywood heavyweights. A video recently went viral on social media showing a relieved Rajpal Yadav thanking Salman Khan for his support.

This led many to believe that Salman had cleared Rajpal Yadav’s debts, leading to his release. However, his wife, Radha Yadav, has officially shut down these rumours.

The clip in question is an old recording and is completely unrelated to the current 2026 legal proceedings. Radha has also confirmed that Rajpal is still in custody. A critical bail hearing is scheduled for today, February 16, 2026.

While Radha Yadav declined to name specific individuals who have provided financial assistance, she acknowledged that many from the film fraternity have stepped up.
"I’m not able to divulge names and figures at this stage. We are very hopeful that he will be out soon... Once Rajpalji is out, he will be able to speak to the media and give further clarity," Radha Yadav said.

Among prominent figures who have publicly voiced their solidarity on social media is Sonu Sood. He has praised Rajpal Yadav’s talent and called on producers and directors to stand by him, even confirming Rajpal Yadav will be part of his upcoming film.

Gurmeet Choudhary expressed his heartbreak over the situation and urged the industry to find a compassionate solution. Support has also been echoed by Guru Randhawa, Mika Singh, and others.

For the unversed, the case traces back to 2010, when Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore to fund his directorial debut. After the film failed to perform at the box office, the debt remained unpaid, eventually ballooning due to interest and legal complications. In 2018-2019, Rajpal Yadav and his wife were originally sentenced to six months by a magisterial court, a decision upheld by a sessions court.

During recent proceedings, the court asked for a concrete settlement plan. While Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer stated that Rs 2.5 crore has already been paid toward the debt, a full settlement has yet to be reached.

Justice Sharma noted that since Rajpal Yadav failed to comply with previous surrender orders (set for Feb 4), his bail application would only be considered once he was in custody—leading to his current incarceration.

The family remains "together and grateful" for the fan support as they await the outcome of the February 16 hearing.
