Rajpal Yadav’s Manager Says Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Sonu Sood And More Have Extended Support
Bollywood rallies behind Rajpal Yadav as several A-list celebrities step forward to help the actor in his debt case.
Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav has found strong backing from the film fraternity after his emotional statement about having “no friends” in the industry surfaced just before he surrendered and was sent to Tihar Jail in connection with a Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case. What followed, however, was a wave of support from several prominent names in Bollywood and beyond. It was Sonu Sood who first publicly urged the industry to rally behind Rajpal Yadav.
Now, in an interview with Screen by The Indian Express, Rajpal Yadav’s manager Goldie has revealed that multiple A-list celebrities have stepped forward to help him clear his dues.
According to Goldie, actors Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. Filmmaker David Dhawan also reached out, along with producer Ratan Jain and actor Varun Dhawan.
“A lot of people have reached out to help Rajpal Yadav. Actors like Sonu Sood, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn have extended their support. I was just on a call with David Dhawan — he too reached out. Ratan Jain, Varun Dhawan… many people are coming forward to help him this time, which Rajpal has deeply appreciated,” Goldie shared.
While declining to confirm whether Rajpal Yadav had sought help before surrendering, the manager stated that the industry stood firmly with him once the situation escalated.
“The good thing is that after his situation worsened, the industry has stood behind him like a rock—and that should be appreciated. Everyone has made commitments, but such transactions don’t happen overnight. Mentally, the family has to remain strong. Rajpal Bhai himself is very strong, and that strength runs in the family,” he added.
The manager also mentioned that family functions are scheduled later in February and expressed hope that Rajpal would be released in time. The actor’s bail hearing is slated for tomorrow.
The legal battle dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav borrowed Rs 5 crore from Delhi-based Murali Projects Pvt Ltd to finance his directorial debut, ‘Ata Pata Laapata’ (2012). After the film underperformed at the box office, he struggled to repay the loan, leading to a prolonged dispute. In April 2018, a magistrate’s court convicted Rajpal and his wife Radha Yadav under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act after seven cheques issued by them bounced. He was sentenced to six months’ simple imprisonment.
In June 2024, the Delhi High Court suspended his sentence and directed him to make genuine efforts to repay the dues, which had risen to nearly Rs 9 crore. By October 2025, Rajpal had deposited Rs 75 lakh, but the court observed that a significant portion remained unpaid. In February 2025, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma ordered him to surrender. His plea for an additional week to settle the amount was dismissed, and he was taken into custody.
Financial support has since poured in. Sonu Sood offered Rajpal Yadav a role in his upcoming film along with a signing amount. Politician Tej Pratap Yadav pledged Rs 11 lakh, while filmmaker and commentator KRK offered Rs 10 lakh. Music producer Rao Inderjeet Singh committed Rs 1.11 crore to help secure bail.
Singer Guru Randhawa also extended support, announcing via Instagram Stories that Rajpal would feature in one of his upcoming music videos and that an advance payment had already been transferred. “Lets all Help our senior actor @rajpalofficial sir… Sonu Sood paji following what you started… Lets all help and get him home safe. Waheguru,” he wrote.
As the bail hearing approaches, the industry’s united show of solidarity marks a significant turn in Rajpal Yadav’s ongoing legal struggle.
