Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni know exactly how to serve a viral moment. If you thought their previous summit selfies were the peak of the internet's favourite diplomatic crossover, think again! PM Modi recently wrapped up the final leg of his five-nation tour in Italy, and the duo has officially cashed in on the viral ‘Melodi’ trend in the sweetest way possible. In a light-hearted video that has sent social media into an absolute meltdown, PM Modi surprised Meloni with a very nostalgic treat: a packet of Parle's iconic 'Melody' toffees.

Sharing the candid moment on her social media accounts, the Italian PM captioned it, "Thank you for the gift." The delightful clip features the two leaders holding the popular candy, famous for its "very, very chocolaty" tagline, as they laugh over the internet trend.

Meloni cheerfully announced, “Prime Minister Modi brought us a gift, a very, very good toffee – Melody!” to which PM Modi smiled and simply responded, “Melody.”

Naturally, the brand behind the confectionary wasn't going to miss out on this massive free endorsement. Parle quickly took to Instagram, re-sharing the video with the clever caption: “Sweetening relationships since 1983.” Fans and celebrities alike flooded the comments to stan the duo. Actress Bhumi Satish Pednekkar chimed in on the collab post with, “Living for this,” while another user hilariously noted, “We got Modiji x melony bhabhi before GTA VI.” Others predicted the candies would be "Out of Stock" in days, with market stocks touching the sky.

But the viral toffee exchange was just the cherry on top of a highly visual visit. The internet was treated to an entire aesthetic photoshoot of what fans are calling “car diplomacy”. The two leaders travelled together through the streets of Rome before enjoying a dinner meeting and a late-evening walk through the illuminated, iconic Colosseum. Captured standing side by side and leaning against a railing overlooking the stunning Rome skyline during sunset, the duo looked sharp. PM Modi donned a dark navy blue bandhgala suit paired with white churidar trousers, while Meloni opted for a light pink embroidered top with white trousers.

Adding a touch of heritage to the trip – following a warm welcome from the Indian diaspora outside his hotel – PM Modi also viewed artworks by Italian painter Giampaolo Tomassetti. Showcasing a passion for Indian culture that dates back four decades, Tomassetti presented PM Modi with a striking painting of the ancient, spiritual city of Varanasi (Kashi). The artist, who began illustrating Vedic culture books in the 1980s and spent years crafting 23 massive Mahabharat paintings, beautifully bridged the artistic gap between the two nations.

Beneath the smiles, the memes, and the moniker 'Melodi' (a blend of their surnames that gained fame during previous summits), major global moves are being made. This wasn’t just a photo op; it was foreign policy in motion.

The relationship has rapidly evolved from a cordial friendship into a special strategic partnership. With bilateral trade already crossing the USD 16.77 billion mark, both nations are pushing towards a Euro 20 billion target by 2029 under the India-Italy Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025–2029. Their focus spans defense, aerospace, clean tech, and the highly anticipated India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC), positioning Rome firmly as Europe's gateway to the Indo-Pacific.

Sweet, stylish, and strategic – the 'Melodi' team is clearly playing for keeps!
