Just hours before his death, Dharmendra’s character poster from his upcoming film ‘Ikkis’ was unveiled.
Dharmendra's death happened just two weeks after his family brought him back home from the hospital, where he was admitted due to ill health. At that time, several media outlets wrongly reported the actor's death, only to be called out by the family members, such as Hema Malini and Sunny Deol.
The veteran actor had a remarkable career, spanning six decades, which saw him play roles ranging from action hero to romantic lead and even the elderly statesman.
Dharmendra began his career with 'Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere' in 1960, at the age of 24, and his first shot at fame came in 1965 with the film 'Haqeeqat'.
The actor's last rites were held at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Mumbai. He is survived by his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and his second wife, Hema Malini. His family includes six children – sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol, daughters Vijeta and Ajeita from his first marriage, and daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol from his marriage to Hema Malini.
