Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to India on Friday, wrapping up a historic two-day state visit to Israel – his first in nine years. Invited by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the trip was a major diplomatic success, officially elevating India-Israel bilateral ties to a Special Strategic Partnership. However, alongside the political milestones, the visit featured a major pop-culture crossover: a meet-and-greet with the team behind the globally acclaimed action-thriller series ‘Fauda’.

On Thursday, PM Modi took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a selfie with the ‘Fauda’ cast. The photo quickly went viral, accompanied by his witty caption: “Thankfully, this interaction required only a selfie, no undercover work! #Fauda.”

The meeting left a lasting impression on the ‘Fauda’ team. In an interview with news agency ANI, the show's creator and lead actor, Lior Raz, called the interaction a “huge honour”.

Lior Raz was particularly impressed by PM Modi's active support for the arts, acting, and production.

“It was amazing, and it was a huge honour to meet the Prime Minister of India. Such a huge country, and we know that we have a large audience in India for our shows. To receive this honour from your Prime Minister — for us, it is great to see how he supports acting, producing and art in your country. I think this is something that we should learn to do in our country as well,” Lior Raz said.

Acknowledging the show's massive Indian fanbase, Lior Raz also reflected fondly on Fauda’s Netflix premiere at the Goa Film Festival. He expressed a strong desire to collaborate with India moving forward, stating, “We would love to collaborate again. My show Fauda had its Netflix premiere at the Goa Film Festival, and we would love to come back and do it again.”

For the unversed, ‘Fauda’ is a gritty Israeli television series streaming internationally on Netflix. Here is everything you need to know about the hit show:
