Vijay To Quit Acting As He Announces Political Party, 'Thalapathy 69' To Be His Last Film
Tamil superstar Vijay has announced his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. He also said that 'Thalapathy 69' is going to be his last film.
The much-awaited announcement from actor Vijay, who is fondly referred as 'Thalapathy' by his fans, is finally here. The Tamil superstar on Friday announced the formation of his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam aka TVK (Tamil Nadu’s Victory Party). In the long statement, Vijay said that though his fan club Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been doing social work for past many years, there is a need for political power to do the same in a full-fledged manner.
“You all are well aware of the political situation of Tamil Nadu. On one side, we have a dysfunctional administration and corrupt political culture, and on the other, we have divisive politics that aims to divide people along the lines of caste, creed, and religion. Both impede our progress. It is uncontestable truth that people, more so in Tamil Nadu, are longing for a change in a political scenario and want a selfless, honest, secular and talented party to bring about a change,” the statement read.
“In this case, it is my long-term intention and desire to help the people of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil community, who gave me name, fame, and everything after my parents, as much as I can," he added.

However, the biggest talking point from the statement is that Vijay said that he will be quitting acting after the release of 'Thalapathy 69'.
"Finally, politics is not just another career for me; It is a sacred people's work. To know not only the height of politics but also its length and width, I have been preparing myself for it for a long time by studying lessons from many of us. So politics is not a hobby for me; That is my deepest desire. I want to fully involve myself in it," said Vijay in his statement, as per Times of India.
"On my behalf, I am going to complete another film related commitment that I have already agreed to, without interfering with party work, and fully engage in politics for the service of the people. I consider that as my debt of gratitude to the people of Tamil Nadu," he added.
For the unversed, Thalapathy Vijay is currently shooting for 'Thalapathy 68', which is called 'The Greatest of All Time'.
After this wraps up, Vijay will start shooting for 'Thalapathy 69', which will become his last film.
The actor was last seen in Lokesh Kanagaraj's 'Leo', and the Tamil film had collected more than Rs 500 crore worldwide.
