Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ Witnesses Drop In Box Office Collection. Check Latest Figures
‘Jana Nayagan’, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Pooja Hegde, witnessed a dip in its box office collection on its first Tuesday.
Thalapathy Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' opened to massive anticipation, with audiences flocking to theatres to watch what has been billed as the actor's final film before his full-fledged political journey. While the action drama made an impressive start at the box office, its momentum has weakened considerably during the weekdays, reflecting the mixed response it has received from both moviegoers and critics. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the H Vinoth directorial collected an estimated Rs 8 crore net in India on its sixth day in theatres.

The film was screened in approximately 10,413 shows nationwide and registered an average occupancy of 19.8 per cent on Tuesday. The latest figures pushed its domestic net total to Rs 143.40 crore.
The sixth-day performance marked another decline in the film's weekday trend. After earning Rs 10.65 crore on Monday, 'Jana Nayagan' witnessed a drop of nearly 25 per cent on Tuesday. The film began its theatrical run on a high note, collecting Rs 42.70 crore on Thursday. Although collections dipped to Rs 21.15 crore on Friday, the weekend brought renewed momentum, with the film earning Rs 28.90 crore on Saturday and Rs 32 crore on Sunday. However, the sharp decline once the workweek began has raised questions about its long-term box office trajectory.

The upcoming weekend is expected to play a decisive role in determining the film's overall run. A strong surge in collections over Saturday and Sunday could keep its chances of crossing the Rs 200 crore net milestone alive, although sustained positive word of mouth will be crucial.
Directed by H Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayagan’ serves as Vijay's swansong as a leading man before he transitions into active politics. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Narain. The story follows Vetri Kondan, played by Vijay, as he sets out to transform a reserved young woman named Viji, portrayed by Mamitha Baiju, into a confident individual determined to join the Indian Army. Along the way, he finds himself confronting his childhood rival, John Himmler, played by Bobby Deol.
The film's release was preceded by several hurdles. 'Jana Nayagan' remained with the CBFC for an extended period earlier this year, delaying its certification process. It also suffered multiple leaks ahead of release, including footage from the film and eventually a high-definition print that surfaced online, leading to police action and arrests.
Following the film's release, the makers hosted a success event in Chennai, where H Vinoth revealed that six sequences had been removed from the theatrical version. These include two comedy scenes featuring Vijay, two action blocks, and two emotional moments.
