'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Creates India Box Office History, Beats These Two Huge Bollywood Movies
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Box Office: Tom Holland’s movie recorded a historic India opening, beating major benchmarks as the Marvel film dominated the box office.
Marvel Studios has another box office phenomenon on its hands. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, led by Tom Holland and Zendaya, has made a spectacular debut in India, delivering the biggest opening day ever for a Hollywood release and setting a new benchmark for international films in the market. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the latest instalment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) grossed an estimated Rs 72.44 crore on its first day in India, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The film's domestic net collection stood at Rs 60.60 crore, underlining the massive demand for the web-slinger's latest adventure.

The record-breaking 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' box office opening saw it surpass the previous milestones set by 'Avengers: Endgame' and 'Avatar: The Way of Water'. The 2019 Marvel blockbuster had opened with a gross collection of Rs 65 crore, while James Cameron's visual spectacle earned Rs 48.75 crore on its first day. By comfortably crossing both figures, the latest 'Spider-Man' film has registered the strongest opening ever for a Hollywood title in India.
The superhero entertainer also outperformed the Day 1 business of several high-profile Indian releases, including Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone's ‘Pathaan’ (Rs 67.19 crore) and 'Ranveer Singh's ‘Dhurandhar’ (Rs 33.60 crore).

The film enjoyed strong footfalls throughout Thursday, with occupancy levels rising as the day progressed. It recorded an overall nationwide occupancy of 56.58 per cent.
With the opening day setting the tone, all eyes are now on the film's weekend performance. If collections continue to hold at a similar pace, 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' could soon challenge the lifetime Indian box office records of 'Avatar: The Way of Water' (Rs 477.50 crore) and 'Avengers: Endgame' (Rs 445 crore), two films that have dominated the Hollywood charts in India for years.
The film has also made a significant impact internationally. Early estimates from Sacnilk indicate that its worldwide gross has already crossed the Rs 1,000 crore mark, even before its North American release on July 31, a remarkable feat that highlights the global popularity of the Spider-Man franchise.
Apart from Tom Holland and Zendaya, the film features Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Florence Pugh, Tramell Tillman, Marisa Tomei and Mark Ruffalo in pivotal roles.
'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' serves as the fourth solo outing for Holland's Peter Parker, following 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' and 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'. It also marks Destin Daniel Cretton's first Spider-Man film after Jon Watts directed the previous trilogy, and it becomes the 38th entry in the ever-expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe.
