As its historic theatrical run continues, here are the five highest-grossing Hollywood films in India in 2026 and exactly where Tom Holland’s latest superhero adventure ranks.

Here are the top five grossing Hollywood films of 2026 in India:

1. Spider-Man: Brand New Day

India release date: July 30, 2026

Director: Destin Daniel Cretton

Cast: Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Jacob Batalon and Florence Pugh

Amount earned at Indian Box Office: Rs 334 crore nett and Rs 400.21 crore gross

There was little doubt that ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ would be one of the biggest Hollywood releases of 2026, but its performance in India has exceeded even the already-high expectations surrounding it. The latest chapter in Tom Holland’s ‘Spider-Man’ journey opened to an extraordinary response in India. The film reportedly collected around Rs 60.60 crore nett on its opening day, giving it the biggest opening day for a Hollywood film in the country. Within six days, it had crossed the Rs 300 crore net mark, becoming only the third Hollywood film to reach that milestone in India after ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

By August 7, the film had surpassed the Rs 335 crore mark with its theatrical run still ongoing. Its final figure could therefore be substantially higher. The film is expected to rake in excess of Rs 400 crore. As far as the film is concerned, the story covers the events after 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', when Peter Parker lives a lonely existence as the world has forgotten his identity. With no one around who remembers the man behind the mask, Peter has devoted himself entirely to protecting New York City.

However, his increasingly intense life as 'Spider-Man' begins to have unexpected physical consequences. Peter discovers that his powers are evolving in ways he does not fully understand, while new threats force him to confront a more dangerous chapter of his superhero career. Tom Holland remains the emotional centre of the film, while Zendaya returns as MJ. Sadie Sink has been introduced in a major role, and Jon Bernthal brings the Punisher into the story. Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner is also part of the film’s expanding Marvel connection.

2. The Odyssey

Release date: July 17, 2026

Director: Christopher Nolan

Cast: Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, John Leguizamo and Himesh Patel

Amount earned at Indian Box Office: Rs 158 crore nett and Rs 189.21 crore gross

'The Odyssey' has emerged as another major Hollywood success in India. The epic adventure is an ambitious cinematic adaptation of Homer’s ancient Greek poem, bringing together one of the year's biggest ensembles. Matt Damon stars as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, who attempts to return home after the Trojan War. His journey becomes a monumental struggle as he and his companions encounter dangerous seas, mythical creatures and extraordinary obstacles.

The film also explores Odysseus’ relationship with his family and the emotional cost of his long absence. Tom Holland plays his son Telemachus, while Anne Hathaway portrays Penelope. Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o and Charlize Theron are among the other major members of the ensemble. Nolan’s reputation in India played an important role in the film’s commercial performance. 'The Odyssey' opened strongly and benefited significantly from premium formats, particularly IMAX. By the end of the first week of August, the film had already crossed Rs 150 crore nett in India. Recent estimates put its India net total at approximately Rs 160 crore, with the film still adding to its tally.

3. Obsession

India release date: May 29, 2026

Director: Curry Barker

Cast: Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless and Andy Richter

Amount earned at Indian Box Office: Rs 84.85 crore nett and Rs 100.91 crore gross

Unlike the other films in the top five, it does not have an established superhero franchise, a celebrated blockbuster filmmaker or a huge production budget behind it. Instead, the psychological horror film became a genuine word-of-mouth phenomenon. The story centres on Bear, a shy young man who works at a music store and is hopelessly in love with his friend Nikki. Desperate to make her return his feelings, Bear uses a mysterious object known as the "One Wish Willow."

His wish appears to work, but the consequences are far darker than he could have imagined. Nikki's obsession with Bear becomes increasingly disturbing, turning what initially appears to be a romantic fantasy into a frightening exploration of control, desire and psychological manipulation. Michael Johnston and Inde Navarrette lead the cast, with Curry Barker serving as both writer and director.

The film was made on a reported budget of less than USD 1 million, making its eventual commercial performance extraordinary. After becoming a major success in North America, 'Obsession' found an unexpectedly enthusiastic audience in India following its May 29 release. The film had crossed the Rs 80 crore net mark in India and briefly became the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2026 in the country, according to Sacnilk. Its final India gross was reported at around Rs 100 crore, with nett collections at roughly Rs 84.85 crore.

4. Project Hail Mary

India release date: March 26, 2026

Directors: Phil Lord and Christopher Miller

Cast: Ryan Gosling, Sandra Hüller, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce and James Ortiz

Amount earned at Indian Box Office: Rs 75.27 crore nett and Rs 89.52 crore gross

Based on Andy Weir's bestselling science-fiction novel, the film stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a schoolteacher who wakes up aboard a spacecraft millions of kilometres from Earth. He initially has no clear memory of who he is or why he is there. Grace eventually discovers that humanity faces an existential crisis caused by a mysterious organism affecting the Sun. His mission is to find a scientific solution capable of saving Earth.

The story combines large-scale science fiction with humour, suspense and an unexpectedly emotional human story. One of its most important relationships develops when Grace encounters an alien being known as Rocky. Their unlikely partnership becomes central to the film's narrative.

Released in India on March 26, Project Hail Mary became the first Hollywood release of 2026 to cross the Rs 50 crore mark. Its long theatrical run helped it eventually reach approximately Rs 75 crore nett in India. The film's performance was especially impressive because it was an original science-fiction property rather than a sequel or established superhero franchise.

5. Michael

Release date: April 24, 2026

Director: Antoine Fuqua

Cast: Jaafar Jackson, Miles Teller, Nia Long, Laura Harrier and Juliano Krue Valdi

Amount earned at Indian Box Office: Rs 71.09 crore nett and Rs 83.62 crore gross

Rounding out the top five is ‘Michael’, the long-awaited biographical film about music icon Michael Jackson. Directed by Antoine Fuqua, the movie stars Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson's nephew, in the lead role. The cast also includes Miles Teller, Nia Long and Laura Harrier, while Juliano Krue Valdi portrays the younger Michael Jackson.

The film chronicles Jackson's rise from his early years with the Jackson 5 to his emergence as one of the most influential entertainers in music history. Rather than focusing on a single moment, the biographical drama traces key stages of his career and explores the pressures surrounding his extraordinary rise to global fame. The casting of Jaafar Jackson was one of the film's major talking points. His physical resemblance to his uncle and connection to the Jackson family generated considerable interest even before the movie reached cinemas.

In India, ‘Michael’ initially opened at a more modest pace than some of the year's other major Hollywood releases. However, interest grew as the theatrical run progressed, helped by Michael Jackson's enormous popularity among Indian music fans. The film eventually crossed Rs 50 crore net and continued to add to its total. Current tracking puts its nett collection in India at approximately Rs 71 crore, making it the fifth-highest-grossing Hollywood release in India so far in 2026.

Note: All box office numbers are sourced from the industry tracker Sacnilk. Since ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ and ‘The Odyssey’ are still running in theatres, their totals will continue to change.
