Disha Patani shared BTS moments from sets of 'Awarapan 2'.

Nearly three weeks after ‘Awarapan 2’ hit cinemas, Bollywood actress Disha Patani has finally opened her camera roll. The actress dropped a sprawling photo dump from the sets of the Vishesh Films sequel, and it is easily the most generous look anyone from the team has given fans so far. Posted around 20 hours ago, the carousel has already crossed 250.4K likes, 2.6K comments and 553 shares – with Emraan Hashmi himself among those who hit like.

Her caption kept it sentimental rather than promotional. Disha Patani wrote about being grateful to have connected with "such amazing beautiful souls" on a story she said the team will cherish forever, signing off with a red heart, folded hands and the film's hashtag. Co-star Puran Gabbi dropped a comment in the replies – “Zara”, the name of Disha Patani's character – while her sister Khushboo Patani left a row of red hearts.

The dump opened on the film's most striking set piece: Disha in a bias-cut ivory satin gown with a cowl neckline and a trailing chiffon panel, standing dead centre on a stage carpeted with dozens of candles, a cello and music stand behind her under a cold blue wash. A black-and-white frame from the same setup showed her seated with the instrument, bow to strings, candles flickering in the foreground. Another slide revealed the homework behind it – Disha Patani in a sheer ivory blouse and skirt, taking cello instruction from a coach while the crew watched from a concrete-walled rehearsal space.

The mood swinged hard from there. One slide had her in a black ruched dress, arm extended, pistol aimed straight down the barrel of the lens inside a blue-lit arched pedestrian walkway. Another placed her opposite Shabana Azmi, in a black saree and veil, cupping Disha Patani's face against a red-neon backdrop – a scene that looked like it belonged to the film's darker underbelly.

The Emraan Hashmi frames are the ones fans will screenshot. The two were caught mid-laugh on a city walkway with high-rises behind them, and again in director's chairs under a graffiti-covered flyover, exchanging a fist bump between takes. A third found them parked in a corridor between shots, Emraan Hashmi in a vest and boots, Disha Patani in a peach and cream ensemble.

Sprinkled through were the small, unglamorous bits that made photo dumps work: a POV shot from the back seat of a car rigged for a chase sequence, prayer beads swinging from the mirror; a monsoon-grey silhouette in a hall of wooden columns; a forest location where a bamboo cage set had drawn a crowd of local children; a reflection selfie in an airport arrivals window; a backlit profile portrait; and finally, the full unit gathered on a stage beside the dolly track for a wrap photograph, clapperboard in hand.

The last shot showed Disha Patani behind the scenes on location during the filming of the movie. ‘Awarapan 2’, directed by Nitin Kakkar, released on August 14 and has grown into the biggest theatrical success of Emraan Hashmi's career, with Sacnilk putting its worldwide total at Rs 211 crore. An Amazon Prime Video premiere is expected, though the date is still unannounced.
