The trailer launch of 'Batwara 1947' turned into an emotional affair after filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi shared a heartfelt memory about late legendary actor Dharmendra. The revelation left the audience moved, with Sunny Deol visibly emotional as he remembered his father during the event held in Mumbai on Tuesday. The launch was attended by the film's cast and crew, including Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, and director Rajkumar Santoshi.

While the evening was centred around unveiling the much-awaited trailer, one particular moment stood out when Santoshi disclosed that 'Batwara 1947' was the final film Dharmendra had watched. He also shared that the legendary actor had appreciated the film, making the occasion even more special for everyone present.
"Dharam ji ki blessing bahut hai iss film ke andar. Narration suna tha and he was very emotional. Aankh mein aansu aa gaye, bahut aashirwad diya aur Dharam ji ki mere khyaal se last film joh unhone dekhi woh bhi Batwara hai," said Santoshi at the trailer launch event on Tuesday.
"Tabhi unhone bola tha ki picture bahut chalegi bahut achcha kaam kiya aap logon ne unka aashirwad hai toh I am grateful and I thank Dharam ji today here," he added.

During event, Karan Deol, Sunny's son also shared the experience of sharing the screen for the first time with his father. "Dad, it was a dream come true. What else can I say? It was lovely. Who would not want to work with their father? Seriously, just standing opposite him, just looking at him. My life was made. I love you so much. That’s all I can say. I am really overwhelmed right now with the response and it has been a while since I’ve been here. I just hope the way you reacted to the dialogue, you will react the same way to my performance as well,” he added.
For the unversed, Karan and Sunny had also collaborated in the 2019 romantic drama 'Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas', which was Karan’s acting debut and was directed by Sunny Deol.
Set against the backdrop of Partition, 'Batwara 1947' explores the human cost of one of history's most painful chapters. The film follows the lives of families caught in the violence and upheaval triggered by communal riots, highlighting the emotional scars left behind by the division of the country.
Produced under the banner of Aamir Khan Productions, the period drama boasts an ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, and Preity Zinta in pivotal roles. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the film is slated to arrive in theatres on August 14.
