Every year, the entire country celebrates Army Day on January 15. The day is celebrated to recognise Lieutenant General Kodandera M. Cariappa taking over as the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. For the unversed, he had taken the reins from the last British Commander-in-Chief of India, in 1949. On this special occasion, several Bollywood celebrities took to their social media handles to salute the armed forces. Bollywood star Sunny Deol was seen spending time with jawans and he even praised their bravery and sacrifice.
Taking to Instagram, Sunny Deol shared a series videos and pictures. He was also heard saying, “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. Other shots showcased the 'Gadar 2' star posing for pictures with the soldiers and playing games with them.
“Then, Now and Forever Saluting the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of our heroes. Happy Indian Army Day! #HindustanZindabad #ArmyDay,” he wrote on Instagram.

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who will soon be seen alongside Sunny Deol in ‘Border 2’, also shared picture with soldiers, and wrote, “Honoring the real heroes of India this #ArmyDay. Proud to be with them. #Border2 #prep.”
Taking to Instagram, Bollywood actress Nimrit Kaur shared several pictures, in which she had donned the army uniform. Along with the pictures, she wrote a lengthy caption while saluting the “brave hearts” of India.
Actor Priyanshu Painyuli, who has starred in projects like ‘Rashmi Rocket’ and ‘Pippa’, also took to his Instagram account and penned a long note dedicated to Indian soldiers.
Bollywood actor and director Farhan Akhtar is shooting for his next titled ‘120 Bahadur’, a biopic on late Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, a Param Vir Chakra awardee. The actor also had glowing things to say about the army and how the uniform commands respect.
As per Hindustan Times, Farhan Akhtar said, “Wearing the uniform on screen is a matter of pride, though a part of you obviously knows that it is make-believe. But, wearing the uniform does something to you. There is a sense of responsibility and you feel honoured to wear it. The uniform changes your body language, the way you stand and conduct yourself. It's incredible.”
