Abhishek Bachchan Dismisses Divorce Rumours With Aishwarya Rai As “Rubbish”
Abhishek Bachchan spoke about his and Aishwarya Rai’s daughter Aaradhya while revealing that she isn't aware of the rumours surrounding their marriage.
Despite persistent rumours regarding a potential separation between Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the actor maintains that their domestic life remains grounded. In a recent interview with Peeping Moon, Abhishek Bachchan addressed the speculation, specifically clarifying how their 14-year-old daughter, Aaradhya, remains shielded from the noise. When asked if Aaradhya is aware of the intense scrutiny surrounding her parents’ marriage, Abhishek revealed a surprising detail about the teenager.
Stating that she does not even have a phone, so she must not be aware, Abhishek Bachchan replied, “I hope not. She’s a very mature girl. She’s a wonderful girl, and her mother has done a wonderful job. I don’t think she’s aware, but I don’t think that’s part of her priority. She doesn’t have a phone; she’s 14. If her friends want to get in touch with her, they have to call her mother’s phone. That’s something we decided on a long time ago.”
While the Bollywood actor acknowledged that Aaradhya has access to the internet, he believes she has no interest in Googling her parents.
“She’s more interested in doing her homework; she loves school. I don’t think she would search our names on Google. She won’t believe anything; her mother has taught her well enough not to believe everything that she reads. Like my parents were with me, we’re completely honest with the family. So, there’s never been an occasion where anybody needs to question anyone,” he added.
Abhishek Bachchan firmly dismissed the divorce speculation as “rubbish, vicious, and incorrect,” noting that people often fabricate stories about their relationship. This follows Aishwarya’s recent clarification on the sidelines of the Red Sea Film Festival, where she confirmed that Aaradhya is not on social media.
Rumours of trouble in paradise escalated in 2024 during Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding. The Bachchan family – including Amitabh, Jaya, Shweta, Agastya, and Navya – arrived together with Abhishek, while Aishwarya and Aaradhya arrived and posed separately.
The celebrity couple, who fell in love on the sets of ‘Umrao Jaan’ and ‘Guru’, tied the knot in April 2007 and welcomed Aaradhya in 2011.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen as the cunning Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ franchise. Abhishek Bachchan has had a busy year starring in ‘Be Happy’, ‘Housefull 5’, and ‘Kaalidhar Laapata’, with his next project, ‘King’, on the horizon.
‘King’, also starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and Jaideep Ahlawat, among others, is set to release next year.
