The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is well and truly underway. It was Australia captain Pat Cummins who won the toss and opted to bat first. Before the start of the Nagpur Test, actress Saiyami Kher had taken to Twitter to express how excited she is for the Test series to start. It is important to mention that Saiyami Kher is a huge sports buff, and she keeps on giving her takes in especially cricket and tennis.
Taking to Twitter, Saiyami Kher wrote: "Nothing more exciting than the morning before a big test series! Great toss to win for Aus. Big day for SKY, Bharat & Murphy. Aus claiming this is bigger that the Ashes! Playing mind games all week, exciting to see what converts on the field. #INDvsAUS #BGT2023 #nagpurtest."

After winning the toss, Australia did not get off to a good start as the side lost openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner. Khawaja was sent back to the hut by Mohammed Siraj after a successful review while Warner was clean bowled by Mohammed Shami.

India have handed two debuts caps -- Suryakumar Yadav and KS Bharat. On the other hand, Australia have handed a debut to Todd Murphy.
Australia sensationally dropped their most in-form batter over the last year. Travis Head was omitted from the playing XI and Peter Handscomb has been given a go in place of him in the playing XI.
Earlier this week, former Australia cricket experts had accused India of doctoring the pitch.
When asked about the pitch, Australia captain Cummins at the time of toss said: " Looks like a pretty even wicket towards the middle."
On the other hand, India captain Rohit Sharma said: "Looks pretty dry. There will be help for spinners. We got to wait and see how much it does. Yesterday when we started training we did see some seam movement for the pacers up front."
