Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan reunite for ‘Haiwaan’, with its eerie first teaser hinting at a visually impaired protagonist, a menacing opponent and plenty of unanswered questions.
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are back together, but their latest collaboration is keeping audiences guessing. The teaser of ‘Haiwaan’ was unveiled on Wednesday, and the clip is nothing like something you have seen ever before. The short clip takes an unusually restrained approach, offering just enough clues to create curiosity while refusing to dish out the story. Running for around 45 seconds, the teaser relies heavily on atmosphere rather than exposition. It opens with Saif's silhouette against an eerie soundscape before gradually introducing Akshay in an equally ominous manner.

The visual treatment immediately establishes an unsettling tone, suggesting that the reunion between the two actors will be far removed from a conventional entertainer.

One of the most intriguing revelations is Saif's character. He appears to be visually impaired, using a walking stick and wearing a specialised watch designed for people with visual disabilities. The mystery deepens with the appearance of a bloodied hand, followed by glimpses of Akshay's character walking with an intimidating presence.
The teaser saves one of its most striking elements for the end, with Akshay's unsettling laughter adding another layer to the mystery.
Interestingly, the preview does not show either actor's face clearly and offers virtually no information about the supporting characters or the central conflict. That restraint has allowed speculation to take centre stage. The imagery suggests that Akshay could be playing the titular 'Haiwaan', while Saif's visually impaired character may be trying to track him down.
However, the makers have deliberately refrained from confirming any of these theories. Rather than explaining the premise, the teaser creates questions and leaves viewers searching for answers.
The film also features Boman Irani, Saiyami Kher and Shriya Pilgaonkar in key roles, adding further intrigue to its ensemble cast.
‘Haiwaan’ is produced by Venkat K Narayana and Shailaja Desai Fenn under the KVN Productions and Thespian Films banners. The film is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on September 11, 2026. For the unversed, ‘Haiwaan’ is an official Hindi remake of Malayalam film ‘Oppam’, which was directed by Priyadarshan and starred Mohanlal.
