Here’s how Eid 2024 releases ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Maidaan’ fared at the box office in the crucial Monday test.

Eid 2024 releases ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Maidaan’ continue to underperform at the box office and the crucial Monday test has sealed the fate of both the new Hindi movies. The fate of both ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Maidaan’ at the box office was looking gloomy ever since they released in cinemas last Thursday. However, the box office collection on Monday indicated that it is game over for both ‘BMCM’ and ‘Maidaan’. As per early estimates posted by industry tracker Sacnilk, Ali Abbas Zafar’s ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead roles, minted Rs 2.50 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release.

The total five-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 43.40 crore.

This Monday collection has come on the back of the makers announcing ticket prices at Rs 127 at select cinemas in India.

It is important to mention that before the release of the film, ‘BMCM’ producer Vashu Bhagnani had claimed that the film would collect more than Rs 1,100 crore worldwide. Till Sunday, the worldwide collection had not even gone past the Rs 100 crore mark.

On the other hand, Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s directorial ‘Maidaan’, starring Ajay Devgn in the lead role, made Rs 1.50 crore on Monday, the fifth day of its release. The total five-day nett domestic collection now stands at Rs 23.50 crore.

‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ had an overall 9.92 per cent Hindi occupancy on Monday, while ‘Maidaan’ had an overall 9.99 per cent Hindi occupancy on its fifth day, as reported by Sacnilk.

As per Bollywood Hungama, ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ is now all set to emerge as “one of the biggest disasters of Hindi Cinema”, incurring “staggering losses”, considering it was mounted on a budget of Rs 350 crore.

If the current trend is anything to go by, then it is likely that ‘BMCM’ will wrap its lifetime collection in the range of Akshay Kumar's historical drama ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, which bombed at Rs 68 crore.

Talking about ‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’, the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial also stars Alaya F, Manushi Chhillar, Ronit Roy, Sonakshi Sinha, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.

On the other hand, ‘Maidaan’ also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao. For the unversed, ‘Maidaan’ is based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, who is regarded as the architect of modern Indian football.
