'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' Goes Past Rs 50 Crore; 'Maidaan' Running Out Of Steam At Box Office
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' has finally gone past the Rs 50 crore mark in India.
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, which was released in cinemas on the occasion of Eid 2024, has finally gone past the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office. The new Hindi film has taken eight days to achieve this feat. However, it is fair to say that the film will not be able to recover its reported budget of more than Rs 350 crore.
'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' has been on a downward spiral in recent days, and the film even fell below the Rs 2 crore mark for the first time in its run of eight days at the box office.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' minted Rs 1.60 crore on Thursday, which was the eighth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 50.15 crore. On Thursday, 'BMCM' had an overall 8.34 per cent occupancy in the Hindi language.
Apart from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' also stars Prithviraj Sukumar, Ronit Roy, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha and Manushi Chhillar.
Akshay Kumar’s recent films have struggled to perform well at the box office. Apart from the 2023 film ‘OMG 2’, his other projects such as ‘Ram Setu’, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Selfiee’, and ‘Raksha Bandhan’ had received a lukewarm response from audiences.
Speaking of Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan', which released on the same day as 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', collected Rs 1.15 crore on Thursday, the eighth day of its release, as per Sacnilk.
The total nett domestic collection of 'Maidaan' now stands at Rs 28.25 crore in India.
‘Maidaan’, directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles. It is based on the life of Indian football legend Syed Abdul Rahim.
The new Hindi movie marked Ajay Devgn’s weakest opening since ‘Runaway 34’ in 2022. ‘Runaway 34’ managed to collect Rs 22 crore after one week and Rs 32.96 crore in its entire theatrical run.
‘Bade Miyan Chote Miyan’ and ‘Maidaan’ will now face tough competition from ‘Love Sex Aur Dhoka 2’ and ‘Do Aur Do Pyaar’, which have released in cinemas today, April 19, 2024.
