'Pralay' is being billed as a large-scale zombie film and marks a collaboration between Hansal Mehta’s True Story Films and Ranveer’s Ma Kasam Films. Jai Mehta is directing the project. Reports have placed the film’s budget at around Rs 300 crore, potentially making it one of Bollywood’s most expensive productions.
The film has also attracted attention because of earlier reports linking it to José Saramago’s novel Blindness. However, Hansal Mehta dismissed those claims in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, confirming that the project is based on an original story.
“It’s not an adaptation. Jai and Vishal Kapoor have written the original story,” Mehta said.
Ranveer’s recent box-office success has further raised expectations around the project. His last release, 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', crossed Rs 1,000 crore at the domestic box office, becoming the first Bollywood film to achieve the milestone.
