BMCM and Maidaan
This is how much 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and 'Maidaan' made on the opening day of their release.

Eid 2024 saw releases of two major Hindi films -- 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' and 'Maidaan', however, both these films have underperformed on the opening day of their release. Ali Abbas Zafar's 'BMCM', starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in leading roles, has opened to a mediocre collection. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' minted Rs 15.50 crore on the opening day of its release, and as a result, the film has become the second-biggest Bollywood opener of 2024.

However, the opening of 'BMCM' fails in comparison to the monstrous hits of 2023. 'Jawan', 'Pathaan', 'Gadar 2', 'Animal', and 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar', all delivered a bigger opening than 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan'.

However, 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan's opening is bigger than 'Shaitaan', 'Crew', 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya', and 'Article 370'. It is important to mention that 'BMCM' has been panned by critics, and it looks difficult that the film will be able to recover its reported budget of Rs 350 crore.

On the other hand, 'Maidaan', directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, starring Ajay Devgn in the leading role, opened for select paid previews on Wednesday evening, where it collected Rs 2.6 crore. The film then had a full-fledged release on April 11, where the film minted Rs 4.50 crore, according to Sacnilk. The total for day one now stands at Rs 7.10 crore.

'Maidaan', which has been backed by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios, has opened to favourable reviews, but it is fair to say that the reviews have not been translated into a good box office collection on Day 1.

It needs to be seen whether 'Maidaan' shows any growth in collection over the coming weekend.

The opening day figure of 'Maidaan', including paid previews, is nearly 50 per cent less than that of Ajay’s last few releases such as 'Shaitaan' and 'Drishyam 2'.

'Shaitaan', which was released in cinemas on March 8, 2024, opened to a collection of Rs 14.75, while his 'Drishyam 2' had clocked in Rs 15.38 crore on day one.

Talking about 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan', the film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran, Alaya F, Sonakshi Sinha, Manushi Chhillar and Ronit Roy. On the other hand, 'Maidaan' also stars Gajraj Rao and Priyamani.
