Vivek Oberoi’s Shocking Revelation On What He Went Through During 'Saathiya' Shoot
Vivek Oberoi made some shocking revelations of what all he went through while filming for 'Saathiya'.

Vivek Oberoi had a promising start to his acting career after he made his debut in Ram Gopal Varma's gangster drama 'Company'. In the film, Vivek Oberoi shared the screen with actors like Ajay Devgn and Mohanlal. Following this, he starred in another RGV movie titled 'Road'. However, after starring in two crime-drama films, Vivek Oberoi opted for a change and he went on to play the lead in Shaad Ali's romantic film 'Saathiya', in which he shared the screen with Rani Mukerji. In the latest entertainment news, Vivek Oberoi has recalled how Ram Gopal Varma advised him against accepting the role in 'Saathiya'.
He also talked about the difficulties he faced while filming for the Yash Raj Films (YRF) production, which included changing clothes in restaurant and sleeping on benches due to budget limitations.
“Everybody said don’t so Saathiya. ‘You are an action hero. How can you do a love story?’ But that wasn’t the film. My mentor, Ram Gopal Varma, was furious. He said ‘No, don’t do this film.’ I was like better than taking permission, I will ask for forgiveness. I loved the film. Saathiya’s director Shaad Ali is my school friend. He was initially making the film with Abhishek Bachchan but that didn’t work out. I already had my debut film, Company," Vivek told Humans of Bombay.
"During the shoot of Saathiya, Company hadn’t been released yet. I was shooting on railway stations, I used to be sleeping on the benches because we had no budget. I used to change clothes in restaurant toilets because I didn’t have a makeup van. We had to shoot four scenes in a day. We were shooting for 18-20 hours a day. There was a time when I was carrying equipment, I had gone back to my assistant days after my debut,” he added.
Vivek Oberoi also recalled how several fans showed up at the 'Saathiya' set, chanting 'Chandu Bhai'. For the unversed, Vivek Oberoi played the role of 'Chandu Bhai' in Ram Gopal Varma's 'Company'.
Speaking of 'Saathiya', the film was produced by Yash Chopra and Mani Ratnam under their banners, Yash Raj Films and Madras Talkies. The movie is a remake of the Tamil film 'Alaipayuthey'.
Saathiya revolves around Aditya and Suhani, who despite opposition from their parents, elope and marry. The soundtrack of the film was composed by AR Rahman, while the lyrics were written by Gulzar.
