Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana', produced by Namit Malhotra, is one of the most-awaited Indian films ever, and fans cannot wait to see how the makers have depicted one of the most revered epics on the big screen. Ahead of the theatrical release later this year, the makers are going all-in to promote the project worldwide, and on Friday morning (IST), Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra attended the Ramayana panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
Several paparazzi pages shared videos of the actors and makers posing for the shutterbugs. Everyone looked in good spirits as they flashed big smiles for the camerapersons.

Playing one of the most revered figures in Indian culture came with immense pressure for Ranbir Kapoor. While the actor has received widespread appreciation ever since the first glimpse of ‘Ramayana’ introduced him as Lord Rama, he also admitted that his initial reaction to the role was dominated by uncertainty rather than confidence.
Ranbir, who attended the Ramayana panel at San Diego Comic-Con, reflected on the emotional journey of accepting the role. Speaking during the event, the actor revealed that self-doubt was his first response when the project landed in his lap.
“I remember when the film was first offered to me, there was so much fear, so much doubt. ‘Will I be able to do this? Am I capable enough?’” Ranbir shared. “But very quickly, that feeling transformed into gratitude. It felt like the opportunity of a lifetime and also a huge moral responsibility," he added.
The actor said he soon realised that authenticity was more important than anything else. According to Ranbir, staying truthful to the spirit of the story required faith, honesty and the right intentions from everyone involved in the project.
“Very early on, I understood that it just requires a lot of faith, a lot of belief, a lot of truthfulness and noble intentions. Our entire cast and crew shared one goal—to tell this story as authentically as we possibly can,” he said.
During the discussion, Yash, who stars alongside Ranbir in the film, also came out in support of his casting as Lord Rama. The actor remarked that no performer could ever claim to be inherently worthy of portraying such a revered figure, adding that Ranbir’s humility itself reflected why he was suited for the part.
“Nobody in this world can come and say, ‘I have the virtue to play Lord Rama.’ The fact that Ranbir himself acknowledged that speaks volumes. He is an exceptional actor, and I have immense respect for the dedication he has shown while preparing for this role,” Yash said.
The Ramayana team’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con was expected to conclude with the worldwide unveiling of the film’s trailer on Friday morning. However, just hours before its scheduled release, producer Namit Malhotra announced that the launch had been postponed.
Sharing the update on social media, Namit Malhotra revealed that the delay followed the announcement of the film’s partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment for its global rollout. Calling the collaboration a milestone, he said the new launch plan would ensure the trailer reaches audiences around the world at a later date.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, ‘Ramayana’ is being mounted as a two-part cinematic epic. The first installment is slated to hit theatres this November. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Yash, the film features Sai Pallavi as Sita, with Ravie Dubey, Sunny Deol, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and several others forming the ensemble cast.
