Sunny Deol got emotional at the screening of Dharmendra’s final film ‘Ikkis’ as the Deol family gathered to honour the legend’s last on-screen appearance.
The Deol family gathered for a bittersweet evening on Monday for the screening of ‘Ikkis’, a film that carries immense emotional weight as it marks the final on-screen appearance of the legendary late superstar, Dharmendra. While the family continues to mourn his loss, the event served as a poignant tribute to his enduring legacy. The highlight of the evening was a deeply moving moment involving Sunny Deol. As he arrived at the screening, the actor paused to pose next to a large poster of his father.
In viral videos from the event, Sunny Deol can be seen gazing fondly and reflectively at Dharmendra’s image before turning to the paparazzi. Though he maintained a professional smile for the cameras, his teary eyes told a story of deep grief and pride, capturing the hearts of those present.
The screening saw a strong showing from the Deol clan. Bobby Deol attended with his wife Tanya and son Aryaman Deol, later joined by cousin Abhay Deol for a rare family photo in front of Dharmendra’s poster.
The event also drew massive star power, notably Salman Khan, who was seen taking a quiet moment to admire Dharmendra’s poster before posing for photographs. The guest list was a who’s who of Bollywood, including: Rekha, Tabu, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Genelia Deshmukh, Riteish Deshmukh, Manish Malhotra and Lulia Vantur. The complete cast and crew of the film also attended the event.
Directed by the acclaimed Sriram Raghavan, ‘Ikkis’ is a biographical war drama. It brings to life the heroic story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal during the Battle of Basantar in the 1971 India-Pakistan War. The film is a major launch pad for new talent. Agastya Nanda, the grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan (son of Shweta Bachchan) is making his highly anticipated theatrical debut. Simar Bhatia, the niece of superstar Akshay Kumar, is also making her Bollywood debut with the project.
Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Binny Padda, the movie features a powerhouse supporting cast including Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikander Kher, Vivaan Shah, and of course, Dharmendra. ‘Ikkis’ is set to hit theatres on January 1.
While celebrating his father’s final work, Sunny Deol is also gearing up for his own massive release, ‘Border 2’. Directed by Anurag Singh, the sequel features a stellar ensemble including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Sonam Bajwa, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, and Anya Singh.
