Ranbir Kapoor had proposed to Alia Bhatt in Kenya.

Ranbir Kapoor’s marriage proposal to Alia Bhatt was straight out of a romantic film, except that the setting came with an unexpected element of danger. The Bollywood actor recently revisited the special moment on 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 18', revealing how three lions were roaming just 100 feet away when he went down on one knee to ask Alia to marry him. During his conversation with host Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir recalled planning the proposal during the couple’s trip to Kenya’s Maasai Mara.

Keen to preserve the memory through photographs, the Bollywood actor had arranged for their guide and driver to help capture the occasion from a distance.

"I had already tipped our guide and driver and told them to stop somewhere in the middle of the jungle. I had brought a ring with me, and I wanted to get down on one knee while they took photographs from a distance. Girls love photographs, you know, to post on Instagram, so I thought this was very important for Alia," Ranbir said.

Amitabh Bachchan responded to Ranbir’s recollection with a playful observation, saying, “Par sir ek… proof hona chahiye.”

The comment prompted Ranbir to explain that he had indeed carried the engagement ring with him. He then painted an amusing picture of the proposal, describing Alia as his lioness and himself as a mouse gathering the courage to pop the question.

"Proof hona chahiye… Nahi angooti toh thi, main ghar se laya laya tha, par sir mahaul aisa tha ki… teen babbar sher is taraf the, kuch 100 feet ki doori par, meri sherni mere aage khadi thi, aur main chuha bankar apne ghutno mein khada tha ki baby will you marry me? So I think that was a very, very… ek jaise ek adbhut experience raha tha meri zindagi ka, I’ll always remember," he added.

Ranbir and Alia's relationship culminated in marriage on April 14, 2022. The couple exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai home, surrounded by family members and close friends. They welcomed their daughter, Raha, on November 6 that year.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, Ranbir is set to portray Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming epic 'Ramayana: Part 1'. The film features Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, bringing together a prominent ensemble for the ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic.
