Did Shah Rukh Khan Slap Honey Singh? Singer Addresses Rumour
Honey Singh has finally addressed the rumour of Shah Rukh Khan slapping him.
Punjabi singer Honey Singh is one of the most famous artists to come out of India. He is known for songs like ‘Sunny Sunny’, ‘Angrezi Beat’, ‘Dope Shope’, and ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’. If you are a Honey Singh fan, then you would be aware of the long-standing rumour that he was once slapped by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan. Now, during an interview with The Lallantop, Honey Singh has finally addressed this particular rumour. When asked about the same, Honey Singh said, “I can’t answer this here. You’ll hear about it in my documentary on Netflix.”
However, when he was pressed further about the same, the singer responded, saying, “Nothing like that happened.”
During the same interview, Honey Singh also shared the backstory of how he wrote his iconic song ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’. He revealed that the song was written after he drank four bottles of vodka with two of his teammates in Australia.
He also explained that he wrote the song in anger after members of the Sikh community protested against his performance when he was on a world tour with Shah Rukh Khan.
“I wrote that song after drinking four bottles of vodka with two other people in Australia. I was on a world tour with Shah Rukh Khan in 2013 after Chennai Express’ release and my community, the Sikh community, started protesting. They weren’t allowing me to perform because they were like, ‘Ye gande gane banata hai.’ Shah Rukh Khan told me that, ‘I am with you. If you are not allowed, I won’t do the world tour.’ It’s a big thing for him to even say that,” he said.
“Finally, I went on the tour. I performed. There were some 25,000-30,000 people cheering for me but there were 500 people outside who were burning my effigies. Those 500 people irritated and hurt me. After the show, my choreographer and the dancer came into my room and we started drinking. We started with one bottle. After drinking two-and-a-half bottles, I started creating the beat of the song. I decided to sing the song in a child’s accent. I thought they are telling me that I am ruining their culture, now I will make sure that I will embed this song in their breed and make sure that every kid sings it,” he added.
Talking about SRK's reaction to the song, Honey Singh said, “I made Shah Rukh sir listen to the song and he told me, ‘Tu pagal hai, kya gana banaya hai. This will be a flop. Gaaliyan padege tereko’.”
For the unversed, SRK and Honey Singh collaborated in Rohit Shetty's 'Chennai Express'. The singer had composed the film's iconic song 'Lungi Dance'.
