Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar’s ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ has been performing exceptionally well at the box office, shattering records left, right and centre. Several celebrities have already praised ‘Dhurandhar 2’ on social media. Bollywood’s ‘Mr. Perfectionist’ Aamir Khan has finally weighed in on the cinematic phenomenon. Speaking at the ongoing International Film Festival of Delhi (IFFD) 2026, the superstar shared his thoughts on the Ranveer Singh-starrer, which had released in theatres on March 19.

Attending the festival, where his recent film ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’ was being screened, Aamir was asked about the massive wave created by the Aditya Dhar directorial. In his characteristic candid style, Aamir Khan admitted that while he hasn't had the chance to sit through the sequel yet, the buzz surrounding it is impossible to ignore.

“I have not seen the film yet. But I hear only praises of the film. Dhurandhar 1 and now Dhurandhar 2. Both the films have done exceptionally well, and my very best wishes to the team,” Aamir said.

The Bollywood superstar also expressed his delight at being part of the IFFD, a government-led initiative by the Delhi Tourism & Transport Development Corporation. He shared his pride in ‘Sitaare Zameen Par’, directed by Prasanna, noting that the festival provides a unique platform to interact with younger audiences and film enthusiasts.

“It's a real pleasure that our film 'Sitaare Zameen Par' is being screened at the Delhi Film Festival. And I think this is the first year of the festival? First time, yeah. And I'm really happy that our film is being screened here. It's a film that Prasanna has directed and both of us are very happy and proud of the film and what it says. And it gives us an opportunity to interact with audiences over here, which I think mostly are young films,” Aamir said.

Coming back to ‘Dhurandhar 2’, the sequel to the 2025 hit has outperformed even the loftiest industry expectations. In just one week, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ crossed the monumental Rs 1000 crore mark at the worldwide box office, outpacing previous record-holders like ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’. The film sees Ranveer Singh reprising his role as Hamza/Jaskirat, delving deeper into the character's backstory as he navigates a high-stakes spy mission involving a Baloch gang in Pakistan.

The film's cast, featuring Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, has been lauded for their performances, helping the film achieve a domestic gross of Rs 770 crore and counting.

Aamir’s warm congratulations come at a time when the industry appears somewhat divided over the film’s hyper-violent tone. While stars like Allu Arjun, Rajinikanth, and Alia Bhatt have publicly praised the film, others have maintained a notable silence.

Interestingly, unlike the first installment, several Bollywood stars have maintained a visible silence this time around. Among them is Hrithik Roshan, who had earlier acknowledged that while he did not align with the film’s politics, he admired its scale and execution.

Furthermore, Aamir’s nephew, Imran Khan, recently voiced his lack of interest in the "angry man" genre during a Reddit AMA, criticising films that "validate" violence rather than just portraying it.

Imran stated, “Yeah, no interest in playing a hairy, angry man covered in blood. I think that genre is generously represented.” Expanding on his views, he expressed concern over how such films often glorify unchecked aggression, writing, “I’m disturbed by the way these films coddle every violent tantrum thrown by emotionally immature man-children who can’t accept rejection.”

Despite the debate surrounding its themes, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ shows no signs of slowing down.
