Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ has turned into a global talking point.

In a world where geopolitical discussions usually happen behind closed doors or at high-stakes summits, Bollywood has managed to infiltrate the most unlikely of places: a morning run in London. In a video that has now broken the internet, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney were seen trading notes not on trade or policy, but on the cultural phenomenon that is Ranveer Singh’s spy thriller ‘Dhurandhar’.

The scene was set in London’s iconic Hyde Park. President Alexander Stubb, known for his athletic lifestyle, took to social media (X, formerly Twitter) to share a snippet of his morning routine. Joining him for the run was Canadian PM Mark Carney, along with their respective spouses, Suzanne Innes-Stubb and Diana Carney. While the caption noted the lack of available ice-hockey rinks, it was the conversation during the jog that truly caught the eye of millions of Indian fans.

As the two world leaders navigated the park, Mark Carney was heard asking Alexander Stubb about his recent surge in social media fame. "How was your Insta thing in India?" Carney asked with a smile. Stubb’s response was immediate and filled with amusement: "It was huge after I said that I watched Dhurandhar, and then I realized it’s not a game at all. But yeah."

The "Insta thing" Carney referenced stems from Stubb’s recent official visit to India. During a candid interview with ANI, the Finnish President surprised the nation by revealing that he had watched the Aditya Dhar-directed blockbuster before landing in New Delhi. The recommendation, interestingly, came from his son.

Alexander Stubb had shared, "Interestingly enough, before I came to India, my son suggested I should watch Dhurandhar. And I did. Of course, that was one part of the narrative of that movie. I am happy to fight against terrorism and look forward to the sequel."

It is no surprise that ‘Dhurandhar’ is making waves worldwide. Released on December 5, 2025, the film became a record-shattering blockbuster, earning a staggering Rs 1300 crore worldwide. Starring Ranveer Singh as undercover agent Jaskirat Singh Rangi, the film boasts a powerhouse ensemble including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun.

The film’s blend of high-octane espionage, counter-terror operations, and gritty realism – a hallmark of director Aditya Dhar – resonated deeply with audiences.

The timing of this viral moment couldn’t be more perfect. The sequel ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ is slated for a massive global release tomorrow, March 19, 2026.

The hype is already translating into historic numbers. Advance bookings have reportedly crossed the Rs 100 crore mark before the first show has even played. According to Sacnilk, the film sold 1.74 lakh tickets on Monday alone for the opening day, with domestic advance sales currently sitting at approximately Rs 29.04 crore. Industry experts are predicting the biggest opening in Bollywood history, with special preview screenings already underway today, March 18.

As Ranveer Singh himself recently remarked ‘Dhurandhar 2’ is poised to "change the future of Indian cinema." If world leaders are already discussing the “Dhurandhar effect” while jogging through London, it’s safe to say the spy thriller has already conquered the globe.
