Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman are in talks to return for the sequel of 'Practical Magic'. As per a report in Variety, both the Hollywood actresses are expected to return for the sequel, which will be a follow up to the 1998 classic. For the unversed, the first film starred Bullock and Kidman as the witchy Owens sisters, who end up being involved in supernatural coverup.

"It’s official! Practical Magic 2 is in development and coming soon," wrote Warner Bros. Pictures' official handle on X (formerly Twitter).

In the first film, Sandra Bullock's character unintentionally ends up drugging and killing Nicole Kidman's abusive ex-boyfriend, forcing them to reanimate his corpse. 

The film was directed by Griffin Dunne and it was adapted from the 1995 novel of the same name by Alice Hoffman.

As per Variety, Akiva Goldsman will write the screenplay for the new film, with Bullock and Kidman expected to produce alongside Denise Di Novi.

For the unversed, in 2019, HBO Max was pursuing a 'Practical Magic' spinoff series, 'Rules of Magic', based on Hoffman’s prequel novel. 

However, the series eventually disappeared into oblivion. 

Speaking of 'Practical Magic', the film was released on October 16, 1998. Upon initial release, the film received mixed reviews from critics and the film grossed USD 68.3 million worldwide against a USD 75 million budget.

Over the years, the film has managed to gain a cult status, and it also enjoys a massive fandom across the globe. 

Apart from Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock, the film also stars Goran Visnjic, Stockard Channing, Dianne West, Aidan Quinn, Caprice Benedetti, and Evan Rachel Wood.
