Rendered in soft white, the look reimagined the vintage textile through the designer’s sculptural language while preserving its intricate hand embroidery. The fitted, strapless bodice featured a sweetheart neckline and a corset-like construction, with layered leaf and fan-shaped motifs creating a dimensional, almost architectural surface. Tonal chikankari work was enhanced with delicate glass-bead embellishments, adding subtle luminosity without disturbing the monochrome palette.
The bodice narrowed at the waist before opening into an asymmetrically draped skirt, where the original saree’s patterns remained beautifully visible. A scalloped, pallu-inspired panel swept diagonally across the front, forming a thigh-high slit and extending into a long, fluid train. Another length of fabric fell from the shoulder and trailed behind her, bringing the softness and movement of a saree to the structured gown. The ensemble reportedly took over six weeks to complete, highlighting the labour and precision behind its thoughtful couture transformation.
Priyanka Chopra Jonas styled the gown with a necklace from Bvlgari, featuring diamonds and green gemstones that introduced a refined contrast against the white embroidery. She kept the remaining accessories restrained, wearing delicate earrings while allowing the necklace and textile work to command attention. Metallic open-toe heels from Jimmy Choo were visible beneath the slit, adding height without distracting from the gown’s sweeping line.
Priyanka Chopra’s hair was worn loose in long, centre-parted waves with soft volume and a glossy finish, flowing over one shoulder in several frames. The makeup was polished and luminous, with bronzed skin, sculpted cheeks, softly smoked eyes, defined lashes and groomed brows. A deep neutral-brown lip completed the look.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Priyanka Chopra is gearing up for a highly anticipated return to Indian cinema after nearly a decade. She will star as Mandakini in SS Rajamouli's magnum opus, ‘Varanasi’, alongside Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
Touted as one of the most expensive Indian films ever made, ‘Varanasi’ is set to hit theatres in April 2027. She is also set to begin working on her next film with Orlando Bloom soon.
Additionally, Priyanka Chopra is executive producing the upcoming documentary ‘The Cycle of Love’, directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Orlando von Einsiedel. The film, which tells the real-life love story of Indian artist P Mahanandia who cycled from India to Sweden in the 1970s, will release in US theatres on August 28 and in the UK on September 18.
