There is no stopping Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna-starrer 'Chhaava'. The new Hindi movie, which released in cinemas on February 14, 2025, continues to rake in the moolah at the ticket counters. 'Chhaava' has broken several milestones, and now the film has gone past the lifetime earnings of Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' and Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal'. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Chhaava' earned Rs 2.65 crore across all languages on Monday, the 32nd day of its release.
The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 565.30 crore. Out of this Rs 565 crore, the Hindi version has contributed Rs 551.05 crore, while the remaining Rs 14.25 crore have come through the Telugu version.
Ranbir Kapoor's 'Animal', directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, which also starred Rashmika, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol and Triptii Dimri, had minted Rs 553.87 crore in its lifetime. The movie, which received polarising reviews, was released in five languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam.
On the other hand, Siddharth Anand's 'Pathaan', starring SRK, Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, earned Rs 543.09 crore across all languages.
No Hindi release has been able to challenge to Vicky Kaushal's 'Chhaava', and the film has a free run till Salman Khan's 'Sikandar' arrives in cinemas on Eid 2025.
The historical epic has been produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. ‘Chhaava’ is a period drama that brings to life the legendary story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film portrays his courageous reign and starts with his coronation in 1681.
The film sees Rashmika Mandanna essaying the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna features as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.
‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album were composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also praised the film during his address at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.
“Ye Maharashtra aur Mumbai hi hai jisne Marathi filmo ke saath saath, Hindi cinema ko ye unchai di hai. Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai," said PM Modi.
