Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna-starrer ‘Chhaava’ is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. The new historical biopic, directed by Laxman Utekar, has entered the Rs 200 crore club within the first week of its release and it has now become the highest-grossing Indian film of 2025. As per trade tracker Sacnilk, ‘Chhaava’ earned Rs 22 crore on Thursday, the seventh day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 219.75 crore.

The film's earnings had peaked on its third day as ‘Chhaava’ earned Rs 48.50 crore. Worldwide, the film has gone past the Rs 300 crore mark. On Thursday, ‘Chhaava’ witnessed 27.96 per cent Hindi occupancy.

The film has made more money in a week's time than Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’ and Ajay Devgn's multi-starrer ‘Singham Again’. In the first seven days, 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3' made Rs 158.25 crore at the box office, while 'Singham Again' made Rs 173 crore in India.

It is important to state that both these films were Diwali releases. ‘Chhaava’ is also expected to dominate the ticket counters this weekend as there are no major releases.

This week, Arjun Kapoor, Bhumi Pednekar and Rakul Preet Singh-starrer 'Mere Husband Ki Biwi' has released in cinemas. However, it seems unlikely that this film will pose a challenge for 'Chhaava'.

The historical epic has been produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. ‘Chhaava’ is a period drama that brings to life the legendary story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film portrays his courageous reign and starts with his coronation in 1681.

The film sees Rashmika Mandanna essaying the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna features as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.

‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album have been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
