‘Chhaava’ Is Unstoppable, Check Phenomenal First Monday Box Office Collection

Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna-starrer ‘Chhaava’ is on a money-making spree at the ticket counters. The Laxman Utekar-directed historical biopic has woken Bollywood out of its slumber. The film passed the Monday Test with flying colours and it looks like, Vicky Kaushal and Maddock Films have a blockbuster at their disposal. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Chhaava’ earned Rs 24 crore on Monday, the fourth day of its release. The film has registered a drop of just 50.52 per cent from its Sunday earnings of Rs 48.50 crore.
The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 140.50 crore, with the worldwide gross nearing the Rs 200 crore mark. The film is expected to cross the Rs 150 crore mark in India by the end of Tuesday.
As per reports, ‘Chhaava’ has been mounted on a budget of Rs 130 crore and it is now the first major Hindi release of 2025 to surpass its budget with ease.
The film is also Rashmika Mandanna's fourth consecutive theatrical hit after ‘Varisu’, ‘Animal’, and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’.
The first Monday earnings of ‘Chhaava’ are nearly double the earnings of films such as ‘Sky Force’ (Rs 7 crore), ‘Deva’ (Rs 2.75 crore), ‘Emergency’ (Rs 1.05 crore), ‘Fateh’ (Rs 0.95 crore), ‘Azaad’ (Rs 0.65 crore), ‘Badass Ravikumar’ (Rs 0.6 crore) and ‘Loveyapa’ (Rs 0.55 crore).
‘Chhaava’ is also poised to emerge as Vicky Kaushal's highest grosser after ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.
The historical epic has been produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. ‘Chhaava’ is a period drama that brings to life the legendary story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film portrays his courageous reign and starts with his coronation in 1681.
The film sees Rashmika Mandanna essaying the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna features as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.
‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album have been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.
