'Jana Nayagan' Twitter Review: Vijay's Swansong Fails To Impress Audience, Gets Mixed Reaction
Here's what fans are saying about Vijay's final film, 'Jana Nayagan'.
After months of delays, legal hurdles, certification issues, and even an online leak, 'Jana Nayagan' has finally made its way to theatres. Marking Thalapathy Vijay’s swansong as an actor before dedicating himself to politics, the H Vinoth directorial arrived with sky-high expectations. As the first day’s early morning screenings wrapped up on Thursday, audiences quickly flooded social media with their initial reactions.
The early verdict has been divided. While many viewers have applauded Vijay’s commanding screen presence and hailed Anirudh Ravichander’s background score as one of the film’s biggest strengths, others have expressed disappointment with its screenplay and sluggish pacing.
The contrasting responses have sparked lively discussions online, making the film one of the most talked-about releases of the day.
"I have no words for how garbage Jana Nayagan was. Good lord man. Vijay and Anirudh carried tf outta that movie," wrote one user.

#JanaNayagan FIRST HALF - P*nda First Half 🙏🏼😭
H Vinodh Couldn't Make a Single Good Frame for Vijay's Last Film. He Simply Just Turned Kesari Into Tamil Film Without Any Engaging Factor.
INTERVAL PORTION With Ravana Mavan Da Was Only Good Factor & Ani Can Only Lift The Film pic.twitter.com/A9H0KXwh3p— Abin Babu 🦇 (@AbinBabu2255) July 23, 2026
#JanaNayagan Mediocre 1st Half!
The interval block is solid and the main highlight so far. Apart from that and a few template elevation scenes, the execution has been sloppy. Bobby Deol’s villain track is absurd, the VFX is poor, and the core daughter emotion feels half baked.…— Venky Reviews (@venkyreviews) July 23, 2026

Praising the film, one user wrote, "Goosebumps From Start To Finish! The First 20 Minutes Are Pure #ThalapathyVijay Celebration With Title Card.... Theatre Erupting for Every Scene and Song #ThalapathyKathcheri. Screenplay is Smart With Excellent Connecting Scenes, Powerful Elevation Moments, and a Well-Written Inspector Role That Links Perfectly With the Villain."
Originally scheduled to hit cinemas in January, ‘Jana Nayagan’ faced multiple setbacks after running into certification issues with the CBFC. The release was further overshadowed by legal disputes and a reported leak before the film eventually secured a theatrical debut.
The release also comes after a landmark chapter in Vijay’s political journey. During the delay, his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged victorious in the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, following which the actor was sworn in as the state’s Chief Minister. With 'Jana Nayagan', Vijay now signs off from cinema before focusing entirely on his political career.
Alongside Vijay, the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, and Narain in pivotal roles.
