‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ Sets Box Office On Fire, Beats Lifetime Collection Of Alia Bhatt’s ‘Alpha’
‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ had a remarkable opening weekend, and the film is poised to enter the Rs 100 crore club on Monday, the fourth day of its release.

The gamble of taking a hugely popular streaming franchise from the living room to the big screen appears to have paid off spectacularly for ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’. After three days in theatres, the film has emerged as one of Bollywood’s biggest theatrical success stories of the year, racing towards the Rs 100 crore mark at a pace few expected. The film, which brings back several of the franchise’s most recognisable faces, registered a strong Rs 25.75 crore nett opening on Friday.

Rather than slowing down after its first-day response, it gained further momentum on Saturday, when collections climbed to Rs 32 crore. Sunday proved even stronger. According to Sacnilk, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ collected approximately Rs 36 crore net on its third day, taking its opening weekend total to Rs 93.75 crore. The film's morning shows themselves reported occupancy of around 38 per cent, indicating that audience interest remained firmly intact beyond the initial release-day rush.
At this pace, crossing Rs 100 crore nett is now less a question of if and more a matter of when, with the milestone potentially arriving as early as Monday. What makes the opening particularly noteworthy is the absence of a conventional Bollywood superstar at the heart of the film. A weekend approaching Rs 100 crore has traditionally been associated with the industry’s biggest theatrical names.

Instead, ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’ has managed to achieve the feat on the strength of a franchise and an ensemble led by actors such as Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal and Divyenndu. The film has also made a particularly strong impact in mass-driven markets such as Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Delhi, regions where the gritty world of 'Mirzapur' has traditionally found a passionate audience.
Its opening weekend has already taken the film beyond the lifetime collections of some recent Bollywood releases. Among them is 'Alpha', starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, which reportedly ended its theatrical run at around Rs 60 crore in India.
Backed by Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment, 'Mirzapur: The Movie' expands the universe of the popular series onto the theatrical stage. Gurmeet Singh has directed the film, with Puneet Krishna credited as the writer. Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar have produced the project, with Kassim Jagmagia and Vishal Ramchandani serving as co-producers.
The film features returning favourites including Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi and Divyenndu. Jitendra Kumar joins the cast, stepping into a role that follows Vikrant Massey’s Bablu Pandit from the original series. Ravi Kishan, Abhishek Banerjee, Rasika Dugal, Mohitt Maalik, Sheeba Chadha, Rajesh Tailang, Pramod Pathak, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Harshita Shekhar Gaur, Shweta Tripathi and Sonal S Chauhan are also part of the ensemble.
'Hanuman Ansh' also enjoyed a remarkable fifth weekend at the box office, earning Rs 22.75 crore on Sunday, the 31st day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at a whopping Rs 122.13 crore.
The devotional film has been written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. The plot revolves around a grieving man who embarks on a spiritual journey in search of God after his mother's death. The film stars Shobhinaw Satya in the lead role alongside Vihaan Shedge, Chandan K Anand, Purnima Tiwari, Anil Rastogi, Gulshan Pandey and Bhagvandas Patel.
