‘Chhaava’ has been produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films. ‘Chhaava’ is a period drama that brings to life the legendary story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, played by Vicky Kaushal. The film portrays his courageous reign and starts with his coronation in 1681.

The film sees Rashmika Mandanna essaying the role of Maharani Yesubai. Akshaye Khanna features as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite, and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai.

‘Chhaava’ is an adaptation of the Marathi novel ‘Chhava’ by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s score and soundtrack album have been composed by AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by Irshad Kamil.

During the film’s promotion in Delhi, Vicky Kaushal shared that preparing for the role was physically and emotionally demanding, leaving him with little time for himself. He also praised his wife, Katrina Kaif, for being understanding and supportive throughout the process.

“There were days when I had no time to even relax. With 12-hour shoot schedules, two hours of training before and two hours of action rehearsals after, I barely had time to sleep,” Vicky Kaushal had earlier said while speaking about his transformation for the film.

“Katrina knows how it is in the industry, and she was so kind and patient with me,” he added.
