Advance Booking Report: ‘Stree 2’ Sells More Than 1 Lakh Tickets For Opening Day, ‘Vedaa’ Outperforming ‘Khel Khel Mein’

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Stree 2’, which is set to release in cinemas on August 15, is set for a monstrous start at the box office. The Amar Kaushik directorial has already earned more than Rs 4 crore in advance bookings for the opening day of its release. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Stree 2’ has sold 1,24,402 tickets for the opening day, grossing Rs 4.09 crore.
‘Stree 2’ has almost sold 1 lakh tickets across three national chains. The film is now looking to register the best advance booking for any Hindi film in 2024, surpassing the likes of ‘Mr & Mrs Mahi’, ‘Fighter’ and ‘Shaitaan’.
For the unversed, the advance booking for ‘Stree 2’ began on Saturday, August 10. It is also important to mention that ‘Stree 2’ is not a solo release this Independence Day as it is clashing with John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh’s ‘Vedaa’, and Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk and Vaani Kapoor-starrer ‘Khel Khel Mein’.
As per Sacnilk, ‘Vedaa’, directed by Nikkhil Advani, has sold 5,969 tickets for the opening day so far, grossing Rs 18.07 lakh.
‘Khel Khel Mein’, on the other hand, has so far sold just 2,042 tickets for the first day of its release, grossing Rs 8.74 lakh.
Coming back to ‘Stree 2’, the film also stars Abhishek Banerjee, Tamannaah Bhatia, Aparshakti Khurana and Pankaj Tripathi.
Directed by Amar Kaushik, ‘Stree 2’ will mark the fifth movie in the Maddock Supernatural Universe. ‘Stree 2’ is a sequel to Amar Kaushik's 2018 film ‘Stree’.
The plot of 'Stree', which was released in cinemas in 2018, revolved around a witch who abducts men at night when they are alone and only leaves their clothes behind.
‘Stree’ opened to wide critical acclaim and emerged as a box office hit. The music of the film also drew a lot of attention, with ‘Milegi Milegi’ and ‘Kamariya’ becoming raging chartbusters.
Made on a budget of around Rs 20 crore, the movie went on to do a domestic box office business of more than Rs 125 crore.
